http://www.computerweekly.com/Articles/2008/09/12/232298/uk-in-bottom-half-of-broadband-league-table.htmNo surprise for me. UK'ers have always suffered poor broadband services. Tie that in with the false claims which ISP providers make with their theoretical maximum speeds and we become a third world country paying first world prices
We are just way behind and have been too slow to keep up with demand

Yeah, the writing was on the wall with the way broadband was rolled out in the first place....
They would only enable the local exchanges if there was enough interest within that area!
I sat for a year waiting for broadband, yet 2 mile up the road they had it!!!
There didnt seem any commitment then.
Obvious, its a 'all for profit' situation now, with very little been spent on updating the crumbling copper wires beneath our feet with fibre-optics.
Sadly, its just part and parcel of living in the UK...
Shite Service = Expensive
Dabz
UK broadband is shocking. The current government needs a kick in the pants for letting the infrastructure get so 3rd world.
Every time i visit my dad in England i have to put up with 2Mb/s!
My mums house is even worse, she lives in "postcode problem" area where the broadband cost is like £20 a month for a few poxy Mb/s!!! she has to use a modem because it is so expensive (pensioner).
I don't even bother trying to use that unless i absolutely HAVE to.
I guess i have been spoilt living in Sweden with my hardwired 100Mb/s, cheap (i pay about the same as my dad) broadband in all the places i have lived so far. Even rural places can get 24 or 8. Or use 3G if completely out in the stix.
So is your spelling. Ho ho!
Trouble is there are only a handful of decent companies in the UK.
I was with Supanet. Speed at peak times was never faster than 0.4mbps, which, given that I was paying for "up to 8mbps", was unacceptable. Then they tried to get me to pay £40 to leave. When I cancelled the direct debit and told them I'd done it, they continued using my debit card to steal money out of my account.
Great company.
I've got great bb service with virgin, im always getting my 20mb speeds and have so for the last 18months.
I only pay £55 a month for the top phone package ie anytime calls, international etc(don't really use it), have the v+ box on the top tv package and also have one in the bedroom and i have the top bb package. Not that bad a price if you ask me.
So is your spelling. Ho ho!
Bar the word "spoilt" and a single urbanism what's wrong with it? :P
The thread title - but I wasn't being serious anyhooo!
