Particle effects software

I get bored using the same software for so long.
I've used particle illusion for a long time now, but since i'm in the spirit of investing in new software, and rapidly advancing to the need of some visual effects, has anyone a just as good/better solution for a particle effect creator?

I checked the web site of particle illusion for first time and noticed the price: $400 only for particles. No thanks!

That's for 3.0, you can also pay 100$ for Paricle Illusion SE. I find it worth the value.

It's still the best particle editor I have come across, being the only commercial particle editor i've bought. But i'm still looking for a new taste. I'm sure someone around these forums use something professional & comfortable?

maya / 3ds aren't an option as i'm more of a simplified sandbox person.

Edit: anyone ever use Flash Particle Studio? Any good? exportable?
