Quality of your mobile phone camera?
Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Quality of your mobile phone camera?
I have had a LG Viewty for quite a while now and was always a little disappointed with the images taken. After reading a few formums and playing around with the default settings I can now take fairly nice photos. The sky tends to white-out now and then. Trees also suffer from purple fringing
The integral camera is ideal for the occasional 'snap'. Obviously, not comparable to a dedicated digital camera but still:

Motorola L7 - camera is crap.
now have viewity but factory defaults
old nokia one had no flash so why use it in the pub where these cameras are mainly used
its alright having a good mega pixel but with no flash they look like someone smeared vassaline over the lense first

That's nonsense. Unless you spend the majority of your time in the pub (which generally, people don't).
yep, just gota agree the n95 is a great camera phone
hey those do look nice. My phone doesn't even have a camera :)
ok im semi biased to camera phones as ive mostly had shite ones
i have a 'propper' camera (panasonic 12x optical zoom) for normal camera use and the mobiles ive regarded akin to those kodak cardboard single use jobbies, stick it in your pocket and take candid snaps (hell when they used to sell the camera as a cable add on i knew they would be misused under tables ... only cos thats what i would have done with one ;) )
i avoided digital for a long time waiting for the mega pixel price bracket to come to a decent level, i left my APS 200mm lense set up for this toy and its more than paid for itself in the lack of processing (£10 boots 1 hour with CD service) sometimes 5 rolls at a time during festival period ... i now trake the equivelant of one roll on a single band now safe in the knowledge i dont have to shell out any more
but i still look down on mobile cameras as a gimmic, even if they have a good mega pixel they lack the zoom and flash features i need/like
i never use flash at night as the stage lights do enough and all flash does is illuminate the back of other peoples heads
but my 1 year old nokia (well it could be an older model thats how long i had it for) was grainy as f' and when i 'zoomed' all it did was crop from full mega pixel to 640*480 ... i could have done that myself
I've tried a few with 3+ MPs but Nokia seem to have the best. Even my Nokia 2MP one was better than most with more pixels.
Christ gfk, i just upgraded from an L6 hehe. VGA camera crap...
I'm now at a 1.3 megapixel. I refuse to pay over £60 for a phone.
I have a Sony Ericsson K610i with a 2 megapixel camera. It takes half okay photos when outdoors on a bright day, but will otherwise have lots of grain and horizontal "grain lines" in the images. Though I didn't buy the phone for the camera. :)
Finally I'm impressed by a camera phone as they've been so sh*t for so long.
mind you what is classed as a s**t camera on a modern mobile phone was reet good as a pocket digi cam a few years ago
ok some do get better cameras than others but we dont buy a mobile for the camera now do we?
hence my reluctance to go digital without spending a grand on a DSLR (mine just LOOKS like one) what was out of my willing to pay price bracket is now £200 or less and the only problem i have is ive STILL not resized and flickr'd LAST YEARS festival pix let alone THIS years i used to be limited by the ammount of films i was willing to pay to be developed and burnt onto CD, now i can take 2 2gb SD cards and a spare battery (must buy 3rd) and im set for another couple of hundred shots one wet and muddy weekend later (note to self add tripod screw mount to mrMerrygrim ;) )
I have an iPhone 3G. Not happy with the camera at all. In my experience, the Nokia phones have the best. I have also seen some good shots taken with even a lower end LG.

Mine [L7] is a few years old now. Got it for £85 I think from Tesco, then another £20 to have it unlocked so I could use my O2 simcard in it.
The L6 and L7 are near identical. Main difference is that the L6 doesn't have a music player or memory card expansion.

Nice snaps! - The N95 is tops for camera photos
> I have an iPhone 3G. Not happy with the camera at all
I read that the camera images are pretty good (even though the camera is a relatively low 2.0MP)
Have you got any sample images? What about playing around with the settings?
For the record I took my snaps on the LG Viewty with an ISO setting of 100, conditions = Sunny, contrast -1, macro
iPhone camera is great in good light, but pretty much rubbish in poor light.
I've a LG 5 MPixel camera that seems to take nice photos - haven't got them onto the PC yet... all in good time. The movie mode on the phones that good I'm thinking about using it to record my choosier PGR2 moments on replay. Yep I still love that game. Can't quite strecth to PGR3 though, maybe after christmas.
