Is it me or is Jerry Seinfield about as funny as poking your own eyes out with a red hot neede?
He gets $10 million dollars too. Not bad for spewing out lines such as, "when will we get computers which are moist and chewy and taste like cake?"

I really liked Bill Gates in his Napoleon Dynamite thing, but this sucked.

Worked how? It didn't make me want windows anymore than I do now....

The mere fact that I thought it was a complete waste of 90 seconds of my life actually made me hate windows more, in fact I actually went and sat down at the mac for the first time in like 2 weeks after seeing the commercial (I needed to check my son's football schedule).

There is such a thing as 'bad' advertising. Advertising that drives your customers to the competition.... M$ accomplished this pretty well by not saying anything about M$ products and showing Bill with some jerk (yeah, I know who that whiner is) insulting his intelligence.. "when will we get computers which are moist and chewy and taste like cake?"????? Acting like a true moron Mr. Seinfield? No acting involved......

The only thing I hate watching more than that are McDonalds commercials... Talk about showing how idiotic their customers truly are...

This is one of those commercials where everyone knows it makes no sense. Thats the jist of it. It's blatantly stupid. Everyone watches and goes "wtf" was that? But....in the end..your subconsious mind will remember. Seinfield, computers, moist and chewy, and Microsoft.

Shoe sales will probably rise. Afterall, that's what 95% of the commercial seems to be about

Regarding comments about the commercial being so bad that it's actually GOOD (because everyone is talking about it) reminds of the times when 'artists' would throw a load of bricks on the floor in the national gallery and call it ART. Behave!

Now artists make videos of live animals being bludgeoned to death instead, and call that art.

Actually it makes perfect sense. They're using an analogy. In order to make comfortable shoes, you take one regular, run of the mill shoe (the analogy is Windows Vista obviously), do crazy things to it (Shoe: wear it in a shower, flex it around a bit. Vista: Customize it, changing all the insane defaults, and downloading proper replacement programs from the Interweb). Basically they're saying that Windows is as bad as a pair of bad shoes. And I couldn't agree more.

Did it convince me to buy Vista? Hell no. If Microsoft feel they're justified blowing $10 million USD on that tripe, they don't really need my money, and I'll wait until they bring back those even more ridiculous "It'll make you fly" ads they used to do for XP, or those "Putting the end to a day away from the Office" they did for Office. Who the hell would want to put an end to that?

Well it is. Very effective art as well. PETA have been doing this kind of art for years.

I would endorse windows for 10 million. Hell, I would endorse it for a grand.
I would still use the better alternatives though. ;)

It reminds me of Jack Dee's old 'John Smiths' advert with the widget, the big bag of cash and the ladybird women :)

MS need a catchy advert wiith a focused message
By catchy I mean something like the BUD , WEIS, ERR commercial or the WATS UUUUP one
Everybody was doing that in our workplace

HEY! I like those f to the r to the e to the e to c to the r to the e-d-i-t, re to the port to the dot to the com commercials.

A better commercial would have been...
Bill Gates tapping away on his home PC
camera pans back to show MS Word
Bill still tapping away then BAM! the computer freezes
shows Bill moving mouse/tapping keys looking puzzled then doing ctrl+alt+del then pushing the reset button.
computer reboots shows Microsoft Windows boot logo.
computer freeze again.
shows Bill doing ctrl+alt+del again.
Bill thumps the keyboard looking very angry
leaves the room only to return with a 14 pound sledge hammer.
lifts the hammer above his head and swings it first hitting the keyboard, lifts it again and swings it into the monitor and repeats this action several times with the computer tower.
camera shows Bills face with manic glee and insane laughter.
camera zooms onto monitor screen that is still working.
It goes blue showing the "screen of death" and is replaced with the slogan
"Microsoft Windows: Your potential. Our passion"
