Can we have a 3d Engines for BlitzMax forum?

Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Can we have a 3d Engines for BlitzMax forum?

Firstly how do I get TV3D to display in a MaxGUI window?

Now I wanted to know if we could have a forum (just one) for discussing other 3d Engine Use with BlitzMax?

Basically a place where I could ask question and talk to others who are also using TV3D or 3impact or any one of the many 3d engines available for Max.

I think you'd need a whole forum section since stuff that applies to one 3D engine probably won't apply to another.

(Unless you want endless first replies of "what engine are you using?")

I think this is a great idea as it would put all the information in one place for people wanting to know about the 3d side of Max.

Well what I mean is just one forum like Bruceys modules forum. People can post questions on say "how do I create a .ply file for 3impact" or "How do you use TV3D.GetMatrix - to return blah for my shadow mapping".

I know there'll be discussion about using different 3d engines but I think it would work well. It would just mean people begining their thread with (3impact) or (TV3D65) or Dreamotion or whatever.

I think a 3D engine for Bmax forum is a good idea. I don't think a forum for each engine is necessary. The engine in question can be determined in the thread name.

It could, but even with entirely different beasts like Blitzbasic/plus/3D/Max, people still sometimes post in the General section and don't tell you what they're using. And its not always obvious from an explanation of the problem.

This gets my vote. Probably as a forum category, as GFK suggested.

Something along these lines:-

Multiple forums, each covering a specific engine that is in a completed state and has been proven to work with BlitzMax. These forums would be for the most widely used engines for BlitzMax.

A general forum for engines that are in a completed state and have been proven to work with BlitzMax. This forum would be for engines not catered to in their own individual forum.

A general forum for engines that are intended to work with BlitzMax, but which are not yet in a completed state.

A general forum for engines which may or may not work with BlitzMax, and may or may not be in a completed state. This forum would include a stickied thread for listing new engines as contenders to be given their own forum.

--- It should be a requirement of the general engine forums that the engine under discussion be listed in the thread title. The max character limit for the thread title would need to be large enough to allow for this (which is currently not the case).

I agree. I'd prefer Gfk's version.

it will never happen, blitzreasearch does not listen to us and does not care enough to make somethng as simple as this happen

if it explicity said threads MUST start
[3D engine] thread toppic
then it would avoid the confusison stated above, but as also stated above the human element is prone to dropping out this vital piece of information (which i started refering to as 'nehody' due to a really long story)

It is a good idea. It would certainly dispell some confusions.

Sure, just go to SyntaxBomb and ask Qube, he'll set you up.

Any news on whether this can be done?

'This' can be done, but no one will do it (no one, as in 'Mark'.)

would be nice. Main reason I was opting for the single forum for all third party 3D engines was that it would require the least work and effort on BRL's part. And people wouldn't have to petition to get an extra forum for their mod and also reduce clutter.

Bump...
