Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Forum (new!) tag
Just wondering why these forums tag some post/threads as (new!) when in fact they're not new at all - I read them last time I visited. Seems to tag posts/threads as new if they're under 1 hour old (or so) regardless of whether the posts were already present the last time I visited.
No big deal really, just mildly annoying.
are you in firefox and close the tab, but don't close the browser?
No, IE. Are you saying you don't get this happening to you? I thought it was just how these forums worked.
Sorry to hijack things a lil, but big10p: I notice the link to your website is a lil wack. Is Juicy Fonts hosted somewhere else and you've just not updated your sig, or do you need it hosted? It'd be a shame for it not to be available to the masses...

Oh, sorry about that. I had it hosted on my ISP webspace but, in their wisdom, they've decided to only allow access to their webspace via some crappy 'website maker' web app which doesn't seem to allow me to upload files to my site. Basically, they've removed FTP access.
I don't have my own webspace so can't host it. If you would like to please do. Thanks.
Thanks Mark. Nice work with that site, too.
big10p: Feel free to stick a link to
http://downloads.lineof7s.com/Juicy_Fonts_v1.3.zip somewhere in your sig if you like - much like in mine. :o)
Cheers.
I may get around to finding a new home for the actual website when I'm feeling less lazy. :)
So, it's just me this bugs then? :P
No I see it too, the most recently modified threads are marked "new" and they are still marked even after reading them. I suppose that it is meant to do that.
The markings are reset when you log out and in again; perhaps it checks what was changed since the last time you logged in, but within a maximum period so it wouldn't mark everything as "new" when you come back to the site after a week.
It's based on cookies. Close the browser window and start it up again, and the (new)s will disappear.
I figured it was a cookie thing but don't understand why it makes a difference if you close the browser, rather that just revist the site after surfing (ew, do ppl still use that word?) elsewhere. I'm not very knowledgeable about such matters, TBH.
big10p: It's bugging me.
I emailed you, but probably went straight into the spam folder.
Email me a copy of the 'invader.gif' in your sig and I'll host it for you and send you back a link.
Besides, I miss the invader, and on the 30th anniversary of Space Invaders, it needs to be around. :o)
No, didn't get your email but yeah, it may have been swept away with my spam.
Sent you an email with the image. Thanks.
I'd forgotten about hosting my sig image elsewhere as I'm still seeing it due to it being cached, I guess.
k - all sorted. An email should be coming back (be on the lookout), but just in case...
Copy the important bit: "http://images.lineof7s.com/invader.gif"
Proof it works:
Yeah, got it. Cheers!
