one mouse button for apple

How do apple users handle the mouse only having one button?

do they

1.just cope
2.use a keyboard shortcut for right-click (in combination with mouse)
3.use the keyboard a lot

Modern ones don't have only one button, do they?

The last one I saw didn't have any buttons!

Ok, it was under the mouse so you just had to tap the front of the mouse to click.

Anyways, not a Mac guy, but I think they are still one button. I think the majority of Mac users don't even know what they are missing. (Not trying to start a mac/pc war,... I doubt my mom ever right-clicks on her PC)

Ctrl-click gets the context menu up.

Or you can click the right-mouse button ... if you happen to have a mouse with more than one.

Since you tend to have a hand at the keyboard while you are using the mouse, it's no big deal actually.

I find switching between international keyboard layouts more hassle than I've ever had holding down a ctrl key (but I expect, unless you've worked in different countries, you'll always have used the same keyboard layout).

The mighty mouse has a right click, but you have to get used to tapping the extreme right hand side of the mouse or you might accidentally tap left. (I've shot team mates in the face instead of reloading doing that) It's not as good as a regular mouse, but the pseudo trackball in the middle of it is really useful in a lot of mac apps, so I put up with it.

Yah I have mixed feelings about my mighty mouse too.. nice to have a right-click and going back to only one click is annoying, but the rollerball thing gets clogged up too quickly and needs frequently cleaning. I think most modern macs probably ship with a mighty mouse now don't they? Alternatively you can press Control and click the mouse to simulate a right mouse button click. Before this though I just got used to having only one mouse button.

heh, I need at least 3 mouse buttons since I use the back button on the side that you press with your thumb ALL the time. forward button much, but do use the wheel for scroll and zoom and the middle button is a must if you use 3dsmax since you use it to pan the viewport.

Can't imagine getting on with only two buttons and a wheel.

my mac mouse is a apple, although its starting to rot after a months use.

jokes aside, coming from linux/windows, a single mouse button is not easy for me to use. Some of my highschools computers are macs with little circular mouses (they kinda look like small taller pancakes) and you push down on the pancake for the single button. Thank god they also have a large room of windows XP pcs.

Though, not to come across as anti apple, I think its a good OS, I just don't like the mouse.

Apples do that. Especially if you leave them near bananas. Its all to do with the potassium content of your average banana, I think.

I wouldn't regard the Apple mouse as just having one button - after all, click on the left side of the scrollwheel and a left click is detected, click on the right side of the scrollwheel and a right-click is detected.

The main downsides to the Apple mouse is the very short USB cable, low scanning resolution (no good for games) and they dont last long, even though they dont look for feel cheap.

Tell 'em to buy a regular USB mouse?
