Blitz Product History?

Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Blitz Product History?

Can someone post a link (or provide info) about the official product line history of this company? Blitzmax is my first experience with the company and I'm just curious to see it's family tree. Thanks! ;)

amiga blitz
blitzbasic (2d only)
blitz3D same as above but with the 3D goodness
+Maplet 3D creator thingie
Blitz+ kinda like blitz2D but with more windows gui code stuff
BlitzMax

And in case anyone wonders why the Wikipedia page missed out the Amiga version, that's because the Amiga version was released before Blitz Research existed. It was developed by Acid Software.

As was Skidmarks, Super Skidmarks, Gloom(?), Roadkill, Hypertron, Guardian, GTOK.... probably more.

I didn't think Gloom was, but you'd probably remember better than me because Guildhall published it, didn't they?

Guildhall handled everything in the UK on behalf of Acid.

Thanks for the info! So STOS/AMOS wasn't related to the Blitz line?

No, STOS and AMOS were François Lionet's babies. I guess you could say AMOS was to Amiga Blitz what DB Pro is to Blitz3D. More popular, better known and not as good.

Is the development team behind Blitzmax the same for Amiga Blitz?

And speaking of that, who officially are the people behind Blitz3D, Blitzmax? Is it really just a one man show?

Gloom was Black Magic, and Roadkill was Vision (IIRC)...

Is it really just a one man show?
More or less, yeah. Look at the documentation. It says who contributed to each module.

Correct,

Black Magic was Mark Sibly and 2 Brothers (Lars and Kurt??).. And the Infamous Mujo Sefa, responsible for Gloom and the 3D defender thingo (name forgotton sorry). There was also overkill (amiga remake of starforce), I think Rod Smith (Vision) might have done the graphics for it...... Memory is starting to fade.... Actually I think only overkill involved Mujo. Mark would remember better than me.

Vision was Woody's world, Seek and Destroy (Amiga.. Published by Mindscape), Roadkill, and Seek and Destroy (PC) and 7th Legion PC (Published by Epic and EA respectively). As well as the PD asteroid shooter thingo... name forgotten. And a couple of unreleased numbers (Kiro's quest).. Oh and a PD game called Microbes (it's all coming back) As well as some AmiBlitz Game demos (zombie apocalypse I and II, Asmodeus (My crap name), and some others.

Still have the Roadkill sourcecode, but unfortunately the anim7 intro appears to have died. Game still plays though (This is under WinUAE emulation)....
