Namco DLC - soul calibur iv

Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Namco DLC - soul calibur iv

I know it's not something you can really complain about, as you have paid for the game, but i take issue with no DLC for Soul Calibur IV in the UK, for the PS3. Actually, it makes me minded to not buy any products from namco in the future...

For those of us not in the know, what's a DLC and why would I want one?

Best Guess: DownLoadable Content?

Your guess is right.

Anyways, there's not much to buy unless you're a fan of paying cash for little bits of equipment to add to your characters. I like the idea of micro-transactions, but not to the point where they could just essentially give you the stuff for free.

It does blow that it's not released yet in your area. I always figured it'd make more sense to release content simultaneously across all regions you've released the product on to maximize sales.

Another thing play the game somewhere first before buying ive had to ramp it up to Edgemaster Mode after only 3-4 days play. Record 7 Perfects in a row with Kilik on Hard ?.
Also playing with Yoda on Xbox360 was fun for 5mins :(

Im Still no sure about the whole DLC issue dont get me wrong its brilliant for RockBand/GH3 only buy the song you want. But sadly most DLC is novelty and if i wanted to collect those kind of thing i would collect stamps and get the real things. 'Gameplays' what i want so till i see them pumping that out they not getting my moneys for XBL/DLC :(

I really don't get the whole downloadable content thing. I mean sure i get it for games like Battlefield Heroes, were the game itself is supposedly free, fine whatever. But with a lot of other games, (oblivion and soul calibur in particular) it seems like they're trying to have their cake and eat it.

It's like they haven't really decided on which business model they want to use, so they settle for some bastard offspring, which pisses off everyone.

IMHO there has yet to be any Downloadable Content that's really been necessary or really worthy of making a big deal out. Maybe GTA4's additions will be different but otherwise I wouldn't worry about it too much.

Darkheart

I do agree that it's probably not worth it for this game, but it's rather frustrating that my region seems to be last at getting it, if we get it at all. What if a game comes out, and the DLC is really worth it. Maybe it would increase the games playablity? I suppose it's more a point of princible than me actually wanting to buy it for this specific game.

In the case of soul calibur iv, the armour pieces you buy can enhance the characters HP or defence or attack. So, therefore playing online may be affected if you live in the UK (not sure about the rest of europe) and you are put at a disadvantage against other players.
