Bionic Commando Reloaded

So anyone played this yet? Apparently it was released on XBLA yesterday, and I remember a few people here were excited about it a few months back. It's already had some massive scores in the 90's from the big review sites, so I figured some of you would have played it by now.

I was reasonably impressed with my first XBLA game, Braid, which I bought last week, so I could see myself giving this a go if it's decent.

EDIT: Just so that no one feels left out, it's available on PSN (PS3) and Direct2Drive (PC) as well.

I had a go yesterday. The campaign bit's really fun, but the challenge levels are INFURIATING. I have no idea how to finish the second one in the demo. I get to the very top right platform and then it seems I can't reach the the overhang to the left.

Might buy it just for the campaign though, it's better than paying £40 for a 'real' game that I'll play just as long, as there's nothing great out at the moment.

It looks neat, but I played and beat the original, and I'm not that interested in a remake.

It's not a remake, it's a sequel if anything.

And I think it looks stunning, probably not stunning enough to buy a games console though!

Looks great and plays just like the original, it does depend if you really liked BC to start with. Fortunatly I did and really like this remake, it basically recreates the original game with suped up music, graphics and sounds. It is not a sequel though there is virtually nothing new in the game.

I used to be able to finish the whole game on one life and then go round it again.

It really is a remake only for real fans of the original though, but given that modest ambition it does a great job.

More bosses, more weapons, more uses of the arm, different bigger levels, improved graphics, sound and music... To me that is no less a sequel than Doom 1,2,3 etc. Anyhoo... I think it looks groovy baby!

Rob, sorry I didn't mean to imply there's no new content, but there are no new mechanics or gameplay, it's just the same game 20 years on, which is just fine for me. I hope the new 3D BC game they have coming is as good as it looks.

I guess this will have to be an agree to disagree thing!

Well I bought it and wow, it is good. The graphics are are gorgeous, but it's very playable too. It's pretty hard, but most of the old school platformers were, and when I die it's because I faffed about or lost my concentration, not because of a glitch or bad design. For about £8, it's a bit of a bargain.

You don't have to have a console, there is a PC version, although I gather it needs a pretty meaty PC because the graphics are a bit special for a 2D platformer.

Just played the demo on the PS3, and all I can say is......that's one hell of a short demo. Stops right at the first boss, where the game does a throw-back to the olden days by commenting on how you're playing the demo and then taunts you about purchasing the full game.

Does it get better later on? I'm thinking of picking it up, but the demo doesn't really convince me of anything.
(and I'm assuming the first-level graphics were suppose to be a little bland as well, as I didn't really see anything special running it at 720p aside from graphical clarity)

I'll check it out...

If you're considering getting it, then here's my opinion - first couple of levels are ridiculously hard while you work out the controls and things, but once you get the hang of it and you realise the developers actively hate you, it's quite fun. It can be a run'n'gun platformer, but only once you know a level off by heart. There are so many trick enemies and pitfalls that it can take you ages to get through what looks like a simple level. The bosses are great though,

Random deaths are fail.

I loved this game for the NES and still play it sometimes.

If you have an Xbox or PlayStation I would definetly recommend this
game.(Although the difficulty level is quite high)

The Mighty WERDNA(Lord Of Darkness)

I think I may be suffering from buyer's remorse on this one, initally I really liked it but now the inital enthusaism of playing this game is fading I'm less happy. Getting the diagonal grab to work first time, every time is annoyingly difficult for some reason and the almost pedantic gameplay is starting to annoy me.
