Doom.com doom.info domain names croocks

As you all know the internet nowdays is all about sex, Drugs, weapons and domain name crocks.

these crocodiles buys out domain to resell and sell and sell.
never ever is there a decent page. not even metion ID software or any other companys...

any one know a nice doom site ? maby its better to ask here. as google also goes bananas...

i am looking for doom forum such as blitz basic forum..

well doom.com isnt cybersquatting like cocacola.com or pepsi etc

most western males in their 30's will associate the word with the game more than "and gloom" or any other use, but that doesnt give ID the given right to the domain names in cyber squatting cases, it might be a trademark (just as windows is) but they might side on the domain name owners (who might want to sell it to ID for more than its ever really worth)

Don't even get me started,... I've been trying to come up with a nice domain name for myself, and I have yet to find one thats actually being used, but so far all my top choices are being squatted on.

INCLUDING MY OWN NAME! Grrrrrrr. A few years ago my name was taken by some country singer,... thought I would buy some CD's to send to friends as a joke, but now it just sits vacant. At least then there was a reason I couldn't get the domain.

Im not sure where i stand on this "cyber squatting" thing.

If you consider a comparison with real-estate, why should someone just come along and push you aside if you have legaly and correctly purchased the domain? If someone was clever enough to coin the domain "coke.com" then cocacola should have no right to push him out (it could be a website about amateur coal mining or something :D ), they should pay it's "market value". Put it this way, would they be able to force some property off you simply because its more suited to them.

On the other hand i do not agree with buying up domain names and not putting them to use, as that is an annoying waste of everyones time and resources (like houses that stay empty for 20 years that the owner cannot be bothered to do anything with).

So a bit of a mixed opinion from me :/

koka-kola might be an infringement by deliberate miss spelling

the rather s**te attatchments on bbc years back had a website called see through (but spelt differently) one episode had the junior girl type in the name in english into ie (to show the site to some investors kid iir) and some smart bloke had bought all the alt spelling domains so those not familiar with their stupid spelling got sent to porn

doom.com is worth 59 swedish kronor not a diam more.. like 4,5 dollars.

so domain rippers shold be stoped.. at least we can scream abot it.

its strange that there are no rules when domain names is registred. like all you ned is a postbox in neverland :D

But if you didn't buy it with the intent of profitting through the association with Coca Cola, it doesn't *have* a market value. Well it does, but it's about $10.

I'm just amazed by the amount of sites that are not available due to squatting. I can understand popular words/phrases/company names,... but some of the things I have tried are pretty unique.

Very true, thats fair enough.
What i was thinking though is if a site has already got a domain name and is appropriate for the site, if a new company (that was not around b4 registration) comes along, i dont think its fair if they simply take it by trademark.

Oh I see what you're saying. No, they shouldn't be able to strip a domain away from someone with a genuine established site because some Johnny-come-lately company with an expensive lawyer wants it.
