Poll on joysticks

How many of you have a joystick (or gamepad), and do you use it?

I have a gamepad, but do not really use it anymore.

I have a digital pad, couple of dual analog pads and an analog joystick (a MS Sidewinder I think it is), plus a couple of PS2 dualshocks and PS2 to USB adapter.

I only use them for testing my own stuff on. None are permanently connected to the PC.

I have a few PS2, PS3 and XBox360 pads, all of which I can connect to my PC. I never do though.

I have a digital joystick, which I use for non FPS games.

A Logitech Dual that gets used for mame and a Saitek Cyborg 3D Gold which I haven't used for years.

I don't, but I will get one. A joypad probably, but I also want an analog stick, for testing.

i have a wired 360 and a ps3 compatible
i dont use em for blitz cos i dont have the time to learn to code at the moment

but i do like people to give the option of game pads
i do play fps on the xbox so have become accustomed to that over wsad+mouse

i did post a what button is what comparison on an oldish thread
which also was due to another do you use/support game pads
although both mainly to see how many have dual analogue it did give off some hints to user base


even if use is no
support should be yes cos some of us do want to play that way

4 gamepads with dual thumbstick - only use them on some Gauntlet style games I made a long time ago.

I like using the 360 controller since the PC pretty much emulates the Xbox when one is pluged in when running most of the recent cross platform commercial games.

I have a Thrustmaster, rarely use it though. Most of my gaming is FPS these days, or Combat Mission.

I have a joystick that I use for Galaga: Destination Earth, Driver, and Test Drive 5. I plan to get more games for it too because I just found out how great it can be.

I have one that I've never used in 5 years of owning it. It's going in the bin today.

I use an xbox 360 controller, and I've started programming my games to use it because it's such a good controller.

Ps1 & ps2 dual analogues. Use them all the time - expecially for testing / playing my current game.

I have a joystick and 2 joypads. I use them all the time, even though many PC developers don't seem to care to utilize them much.

if i was coding a match 3 game id offer keyboard and joystick as well as mouse
even though mouse is the defacto standard for such a game it could come in handy to offer the option, as long as the cursor keys snap to a grid instead of try and mimic the mouse at tortoise speed

also if you were coding via xna you'd want the 360 port to be able to work now wouldnt you ;)
match 3(60) with no mouse ... how would you play it?

same goes for the wiimote, i can see alot of pc gamer uses from what ive seen on the videos, but it is only going to be a niche market cos the pc doesnt have a similar device (yet)

I have a joystick (Logitech Wingman 3D) but probably the last time I used it was for Freespace 2. I did hugely enjoy Ace's 6, Fires of Liberation but the Xbox 360 controller worked fine for that.

I have 3 gamepads, all exactly like the PS2 controllers.

i never got round to trying out game's own brand pc pads (think they offer two types mostly ps2 in design)

but the cheap and nasty ps3 one i got for a tenner in hmv is now £8 and considering it comes with a usb lead its probably worth the lead itself :p

might get the 360 rock band just so i can rig up the drum kit to the pc :D ... my big usb drum kit had issues and is lying fully assembled but dormant taking up FAR too much room
least i know the rockband one would get used (even more if i got a 360 ;) )

I technically own a joystick, but my computer no longer has the required port to connect it to. Absolutely can't stand gamepads, they make my hands feel like they're about to fall off within minutes.

Just keyboard & mouse for me...

I had Logitech Dual Action pad for about 2 years but it stopped working suddenly about month ago. Physically really nice controller but it seems to have some serious problems.

After that I bought Xbox 360 pad for Windows and it have been really nice. I mostly use it for emulators and platformers in addition to some funny experiments with Guild Wars and Xpadder.

xlsior, how long has it been since you used a gamepad? They're lovely now! Have a go on a 360 controller and appreciate the love.

I have a joystick I use for flight simulator once in a while... but thats about it.

I have a logitech wireless dualstick gamepad and Momo steeringwheel.

I have a Logitech with a thrust controller and a PS2 joypad with a PC connector. I don't get on with the joypad, and I only use the joystick for flight sims.

i have a thrustmaster joystick for flight sims and a logitech momo wheel for driving games. i do have also a nostromo gamepad on which i always play my fps games.

I have a wired x360 gamepad, for any game that might need one.
