Low budget 3D graphics workflow?

Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Low budget 3D graphics workflow?

My current low budget 3D workflow looks a bit like this:

Modelling -> UV mapping -> animation
Silo3D -> Unwrap3D -> Fragmotion

What's yours?

It used to be:
Truespace/CS4/Wings/blender -> giles for statics / fragmotion for anim -> *.B3D

Now its simply:
Blender -> *.b3d

Did you see Silo 2.0 unwrap futures? According to NC's plans the next minor update will have the option to export the UV map. I think very soon you will remove the second node of your work flow...

Moraldi - yes possibly. Unwrap3D is still very useful tho. Just upgraded to the Pro version.

I tried Blender 5 times but now I'm back again at

Nendo/Wings3D -> ShaderMap Pro -> Kerkythea (for renderings)

After that I convert the 3ds files to ddd so they will load nicely in GLBasic. And I've got my own NormalMap Combining tool that will combine the normal map created by ShaderMap Pro with the normal map created from xNormal using a high poly version of the mesh. Texturing is done with the Wings3D UV tools and Paint.NET.

Blender -> *.b3d
Agree with you there, but seeing as I'm beginner level in graphics I think I'll stick to my precious code and leave the rest to the pros ;) (what's the point learning something very in-depth if you don't plan on it being your profession).

The joy of learning? *shrug*

+1
Blender -> *.b3d

Just tried out AC3D and so far it's great!

i tried blender recently but I just find wings3d a lot easier to use

Didn't I reply to this thread?

Milkshape>>Ultimate Unwrap 2.0

wasn't Quill3D made by Birdie or Beaker?

Here's some cool 3d software links:

Quill3D was made by Birdie.

I must say that Fragmotion continues to impress me, especially for the price. Auto-rigging is quite handy, as a starting point.
