More GTA IV controversy.

This time in Thailand.

Yep, if I was representing someone who had committed a violent crime, that would probably be my defense too. If there are people stupid enough to hold him less responsible for his actions because he'd heard of a video game, more fool them for letting him get away with it. One day we might learn that it's our newfound love for finding ways to justify violent crime that is responsible for the rise in said crimes, but until then, we'll just keep looking for the easy answers and letting it get worse.

Yep. I shot the sherrif. In my defence i can say its my friends fault when i was a kid because we played (sometimes quite violent) games of cops and robbers which usually ended up with blood and tears.

He or she is right... imagine this happening to a video game shop owner... -_-

The game should receive an award for bringing out the dumb in already unstable people.

I think I would become that unstable if there was only happy cheery teletubby games. Where's the logic in banning the game due to an unstable man killing someone?

Kind of like a Darwin Award, for expediting natural selection.

So they can ban a game for the sole reason that it was the route to a death. But they don't ban smoking that causes deaths, nor do they ban football, that is the route to football related violence, in which the hooligans go completely ape-s**t and go beating or stabbing somebody to death.

Personally, I think the individuals that go out committing these crimes, are going to do it with or without playing a video game.

if he was facing a death sentance instead of jail time im sure he would blame anyone and anything to get him off the hook

but if the judge said
"nope i dont care if god himself said do it you are going to hang in 3 hours time"
then i think alot of people there would think twice about scapegoats

..not all people on this world has developed perception aboutthings we are discussing now here..there are people with lower IQ or you call it whatever you like, who cant properly divide what should be for fun and what is real life issues...there are sick folks too, who can always got excited to do such things or got really inspired to do such violence...I have seen such things here in Asia, where totally normal guy sit in car and then his way of behaving completely change, due fact that hes feeling 'power' by driving car and therefore absolutely want to be dominant on the road..until i slap him and ask to stop on first gas station...believe me..there are many many people, who will follow things they see and experience in games, movies and so on...there are also sick bastards who will try to hid behind such exuse, but im not pointing on to them right now..

It's the same old story.. millions of kids with all kinds of gory violent films their parents bought them. One of them kills someone.. bang it must be the DVD!

I am actually a person with mental issues. Yet, I never get the urge to go out and hurt anybody.

Of course, games have been influencing real life for decades. I used to be addicted to "Frostbite". It was terrible in winter. I had a morbid fear of standing on non-icy bits of pavement and would jump from icy bit to icy bit.

Oh... and you should see me trying to cross a busy road after a session on Frogger.

Quite embarrassing.

Pacman has also made me a hardcore pill-popper. Been trying to find the right pill to get rid of the ghosts that came after the acid I took. Life's been going downhill since.

Oh man, I hear ya there. Which brings me to my next thought, we should all make a game, where if criminals on the lamb or in hiding, should go to the next closest police station, and turn themselves in. If you turn your self in, your given lots of free money LOL. If they can belive Grand Theft Auto, then maybe they will belive our game. Help society out with our game. LOL

I guess if the impact is grand enough, I guess anyone will belive it. Just like the movie about "Jesus" from Mel Gibson, called "Pasion Of The Crist" You guys have any idea after that movie, how many criminals turned themselves in???? Its a fact too. And they all said it was because of the movie.




Actually where I live, its banned allmost everywhere, except the streets and home. Every other public place has it banned. Ive only dealt with one person that violated that law, which lead to an arrest after he tossed the cigarette in my face, after being told to put it out.

Telletubbies were or almost banned in many countries for promoting homosexuality lol. Things have gone so far the other way in the last couple of years I'm surprised they don't force you to watch it now and encourage boys to wear purple and carry handbags too lol.
