Adwords Cost Per Action - you opinion

Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Adwords Cost Per Action - you opinion

Has anyone used the Cost Per Action model for advertising with Google Adwords? If so, what is your opinion of this model? Have you had any trouble with it?

SSwift was using it, and wasn't mad keen on the accuracy of the reporting, as I remember the thread. I also recall he mentioned that cost-per-action advertising was being pulled quite soon, if that might be a factor in your thinking. Full discussion here anyway:

I'm not sure but at least you know where you stand with CPC.

Pay Per Action advertising is being discontinued at the end of August.

I was going to reduce what I paid per action to compensate for the errors in the reporting, but I have been unable to find the fields within the Google interface where I used to be able to set the amount I would bid for each action. I think Google switched to some sort of model where you can only specify a daily budget. Perhaps this is why my costs skyrocketed suddenly.

Yeah ive been using it, had a small increase in sales but nothing to write home about. Im considering stopping using them.

Thanks guys - might just stick with Cost Per Click. What would you say is your average conversion ratio with CPC?

I don't remember the exact numbers, but mine was twice as bad as it needed to be to actually turn a profit using CPC.

And finding that out was difficult. I had to crunch a lot of numbers and try disabling my advertising and stuff to try to determine just how much of my business was actually coming from my advertising with the CPC method.

But don't take my numbers as the defacto standard. Different products and different ads will get different results.
