Isn't the GPU-programming thing what Nvidia is already doing with CUDA?

At least you won't have to bin your new DX10 cards - DX11 will support DX10 hardware.

Yeah, but it might actually lead to a standard of sorts...

Good to hear it supports DX10.

When I initially heard of it, first thing that came to mind was how horrible it'd be to have to support 3 versions of DirectX for your games....

..I cant say for sure, but does that mean (rising DX11) that B3D going to die with it?

Tessellation is going to be a big step forward, though I wonder how much it will weight on current hardware... it is already supported in OpenGL, but on 3D apps framerate is not as big of an issue. Maybe they'll find some optimizations for coping with UV artifacts as well.

Why? Microsoft always kept an eye on compatibility, and anyway as far as I know DX10 already implemented successfully a software layer for older DXs.

ATI claim to support tessellation already.

Tessellation per se isn't a novelty, it's the implementation in gaming which will bring more interest and eventually optimized techniques in the future for realtime use (both in relation to patches and displacement mapping).
