Duke Waitum...Forever

This is perhaps a unique phenomenon, a legend built upon a legend.

I don't know about you but now and then ( every year or so ) I think 'hmmm...I wonder what the latest is on this game?'.

Today I saw a trailer dated december 2007 http://www.3drealms.com/duke4/ and I wonder if this is all the work that 3d realms has done on the game that year ;)

I see you can pre-order it, release date Nov 2008...then I remember you could do the same in 2007..and probably in 2006...etc.

What do you think?

I'm surprised they're still keeping the current name.

If anything, all it'll do is make people expect it'll be the game to end all games because it has had a development period of over a decade.
(not everyone knows they had to restart from scratch on the thing twice)

Something tells me they've been really undermanned since they always have a job-hiring notice on their site, primarily in areas that involve the FPS genre, and given they only have the one FPS game in development currently....

The problem with Duke Forever is that unless it's absolutely fan-fricking-tastic it's going to be disappointing... And I don't think it's ever going to live up to the x years hype.

That said... "I'm looking for some alien toilet to park my bricks" is classic duke!

I still think that DNF trailer from 2001 looked awesome. I'd love to play THAT game.

I think Duke Nuken Forever will probably be out this year actually. The Duke guys are getting somewhere, it really is only a matter of time. If I were them I would take my time too.

Is it somehow symbolic that the initials of Duke Nukem Forever - DNF - are also commonly used as shorthand for "Did Not Finish"?

LOL @ the comic and GFK

I think it's now more likely that PC gaming will dissapear before DNF appears.

If you've seen one FPS...you've seen em all. ;)

Wrong! You haven't seen finished DNF. Or, have you...?

;-)

I doubt it will appear this year. I think next year will be the one. This is just a whild guess, so don't take my word for it! :)

PC gaming isn't dissapearing, the sales figures are all flawed as they don't account for online sales.
