My rebel heart is very much attracted to FreeBSD, PostgreSQL and Python and those would be my tools of choice for bootstrapping civilization after a fallout. But as it is now, my bank account prefers Microsoft and Apple, because that's the market where people pay me for my work, and my landlord still has not open sourced the apartment that I rented from him.

I thought that was the case anyway.

Although if MS offered me any kind of deal like that i would be scrutinizing the small print to make sure i am not being owned.

Developing software isn't a battle of good vs. evil. As it applies to games the most efficient path to gamers and the creation of fun is paramount.
