Now, the ironic thing here is, why does MS themselves use terms like "RIP" in media player?

its shorter than convert to mp3/wma ;)

Why is all of this blown up beyond belief, its the sellers that cause the issues not the users. If most people had to buy software, then they would probaby not bother unless they could acquire it by other means.

To me if you use the software properly, then buy it..... But the problem is some software is just to over priced.............

People seem to forget that we all tape programs from the TV, we all tape music off the radio..... All thats illegal...

Laws should follow what the population (they protect/serve) want, and industries should adapt. People want to be able to do it, and will continue to do it. After all, what fear have UK kids got for any kind of authority?

I can see both sides of this argument and the insane greed of the publishing industry & trading of intellectual property rights is comming around to bite itself on the butt.

(I also notice it says of all the offenders in the UK the majority are schoolchildren (no genius needed there), not that "UK kids" are the worst offenders overall)

Thanks for the info on per cent, I must admit I've been using it as a single word for years.

ive always used percent perhaps like with other per words i see it as one and i just forget the space
i sometimes go for ever or forever ... mostly due to not knowing if its one word or two and if i dont hit the space bar i dont go back and fix it
hell i hardly use - in words that need them

then clicked the interviews and stories

only read the battle of the bands story
last year i went to the cambridge rock festival (formally the rocking beer fest) 12x zoom camera in hand and was snap happy for most of the event with the aim of flikr-ing the shots and emailing the bands if they wanted copies of the original size for free (took way to many in the end over 2 or 3 2gb cards so STILL havnt found time to resize let alone post em all)

no one bothered me or any other camera weilder till thunder the headline of the final night (sunday) i was told if i took one more pic then he'd set security on me, which i found harsh considering (as ive already said) no one had bothered me for the rest of the weekend

on leaving i spotted 'flyer guy' whom i found out was head honcho and told him my plans with the pix
no cash in volved im doing it for fun and any extra pic for xyz band is another for their website, all i would ask is photo credit and the retention of my copyright, if they wanted to sell it as a giant poster and i saw nothing in return i wouldnt care as long as i was credited in some corner of the image

so i asked about getting 'official' photographer status or something similar for this years which i sadly had to miss out on so i could just show it with finger raised and carry on

but people do make a living selling 'bootleg' CD's and trading standards always seems to confiscate stock
thing is most CD's now are soundboard not tape deck mic in the air jobbies of old complete with the crowd out db-ing the stage due to proximity

so if the recording was made from the sound boards then the cd was leaked by
A> the band
B> the venue
C> the sound engineer
if it was a or b then surely that makes the CD ok to sell without it getting confiscated all the time as im sure their might be something in the T&C of the venue, yet they are treated like a CD-R or more genuine looking counterfiet

No, because they're not file sharing sites, they're download sites. File sharing sites would likely refer to sites which do nothing but list "torrentz" or indeed to the sites which host the file sharing programs.

Regardless of how MS try to dress things up with the "3 days or 3 plays" crap the fact is that Zune users can still share copyrighted songs. MS in that respect cannot go around pointing fingers at the yoof of today branding one and all pirates and thieves whilst at the same time releasing a device which can transfer copyright material

If they were really serious about the whole subject the Zune would not have the 'squirt' feature to start with
