You know, you finally think that Nintendo was making up to the GameCube and Virtua Boy with the Wii, having hefty sales and all...but then they come with this crapbomb just waiting to lower their reputation... the performance wasn't that good...

You just keep on holding your fingers together, because you like Nintendo, thinking "oh, I hope they get it right this time!"...but then they do exactly what you hoped they wouldn't ;/

EDIT: The worst thing is that Miyamoto is there!

I didn't see anything wrong with it. Nintendo doesn't market to hardcore gamers, they're marketing to the whole family. This strategy seems to be working out well for them, considering they are the leader in console sales, and the success of Wii Fit.

If you want hardcore games, look out for

LOL. Oh dear... oh no....

this looks terrible. Hmm, rockband or this? Let me think. Surely even a 9 year old would rather play rockband. They looked like a bunch of special needs kids. No offence to anyone here of course ;-P

I think it's a good sign that the performance wasn't very good. Just proves that it's real time.

Electroplankton had a neat approach that lets people create interesting sound really easily, so I am fairly certain they are going to nail this one. It's a neat showcase of the difference between Nintendo and where certain other developers are heading: WiiMusic is active entertainment, while Guitar Hero is passive entertainment. Granted, GH and RockBand add a welcome active touch to a passive thing, but it's still passive since players just learn, adapt to and endlessly repeat existing rhythms. There isn't really much creativity involved within the game itself.

I also like that this will not result in a million plastic guitars finding their way into landfills once they reach obsolescence. (Or so we can hope. If they put out WiiMusic controller shells, we are all doomed).
Instead, getting new instruments will involve simply pressing a few buttons, then the controller becomes something else :)

Okay, on the other hand, they looked like lunatics. However, does it look any less wacky than four people hammering away on fake guitars? Watch somebody playing GH without sound and you, too, will accept how horrible it appears -- especially if you are in range to hear the clacky noises.

I think it looks quite good :-)

I laughed so hard at that you wouldn't believe.

this is one of the most retarded things ive ever seen. they looked so stupid 'blowing' into the trumpet wii remotes. this is a new low even for nintendo.

Wow.. this is the first time in awhile Nintendo has made such a bad 'game'.

I think it looks fun and I'd love to play it. Seriously.

I guess it comes down to whether you are a hard core or casual games player. In a similar way, casual games players will not have an interest in Halo 3. The game looks good for the type of entertainment it has been designed for.

Um, doesn't look like they are even controlling the game. More like sad air instruments with a rubbish video of vaguely human indie game characters.

Having said that, I never really thought Nintendo was doing that well on the games front. Just good system sales because of the novelty of the controller.

It does sound indie: the samples are alike of those of crappy MIDI sound sets....

"I think it's a good sign that the performance wasn't very good. Just proves that it's real time."

Yep, it's real time. And that's cool. ;)

Well, if it IS realtime, then explain to me why the Windows "Dong" error sound effect plays at 1:18?

It ain't exactly Rock Band is it...
