Possible virus question

Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Possible virus question

Avast has just started to pick up the following file as a virus,

C:WINDOWS\MOTA113.exe

Does anyone know what this file does? I haven`t installed any new programs for weeks apart from BMax Version 1.30 (which I know is clean) so I do not know where this has come from. I have moved it to the chest for now in Avast but will deleting it cause any other problems?

Any help would be great.

Jason.

it seems related to SUPER program (some encoder I think...)

It's a codec encoder

So is this a false alarm then or should I delete it? Sorry if this sounds dumb but I`m not really up on this virus thing. Maybe I should just uninstall SUPER altogether.

I've gotten a strange virus from a activex script on the internet... possibly what you have?

It is not a virus. It is a codec encoder. Create a restoration point and delete the file if it worries you, but I wouldn't worry about this file.

Here's a post I found on another site which may be relevant.

Assuming this file originates from the program SUPER, then make sure you obtained that program from the official site.

OK Thanks for the help everyone.
