Free Project software

Thought this might be useful, i found it the other day :

Its like MS project but is a cross platform freebie. Might be good for managing those game projects. It certainly looks better than what i have been using.

Great, thanks D4NM4N. Someone made one a while back, but it was quite clunky to use. This one is actually pretty good. I'll put it to good use :)

I spent some time with this today. If it had less bugs, and had a way to move tasks other than cut and paste (which is buggy as well) it'd be good to use.

As it stands, Excel is better.

I can never make head nor tail of these gantt chart things.

Maybe because they're kinda pointless when its just you.

Gantt charts can be helpful when it's all about one person, but yes... their man purpose is for teams.

Excel? since when is that a featured project planner :? Wouldnt that kind of defeat the point of MS project?

There don't seem to be any copy paste bugs on the linux side (that ive noticed anyway) :/

Create a project with a main job, which has two seperate tiers of tasks. Take the bottom set of tasks and try and cut/paste those above the first set, but below the main job.

Anyway, Excel isn't a fully featured project planner, but it can be if you know how to set the thing up properly.

Interesting to know. I know excel is powerful and has loads of non-spreadsheety features. Although, i really dont need any of them OO.O does me fine, Excel is possibly the dogs nuts when it comes to spreadsheets, no argument there, it has after all had about 15 years to get it right, but the point is, do most of us need it? (and that includes most small-med businesses).

However, for everyone else that doesn't want to shell out on excel or project theres always this and oo.o.
(which seems to do the job quite well for simple-medium projects/needs).
