3D mesh?

Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/3D mesh?

OK, I've been using the Blitz 2D and 3D demos for quite some time, and just finally got the full version of Blitz 3D. As soon as I got the full version, I was inspired by the Sky Plateau demo, and started creating a game, modifying that demo for a title screen.

The only problem is, although I'm great at programming for only doing it as a hobby, and teaching myself with library books and online tutorials, I'm not very good at creating 3D models. What I need is a good, although fairly low poly, model of a futuristic man. A regular man would probably be good also, as I could probably modify the textures.

A good model of an alien type creature would be awesome also, and would add a great touch, but it's not essential to my game.

EDIT: Oh, yeah, one more thing. I need to know if there's any sort of copyright on the models/code in the sky plateau sample.

I have no clue if I put this in the right place or not, or even if it belongs in this board. If I did something wrong, mods, please do whatever you need to do.

Are you looking for a freelancer 3D artist?

I don't think so. More like just a place to find a couple free models. If someone was kind enough to make one especially for me, I'd be very grateful, but I just program as a hobby right now, and I don't want to spend a dime if I can help it.

Besides, it's my first game I actually plan on being able to complete and make available to other people, so I don't even know if it will sell.

Try http://polycount.com/ for quality MD2 models.

Thanks! I looked at it, and found a perfect model for my human, I don't even need to modify anything! I think I found a good one for my alien there too, but I haven't tested it yet.

OK, nvm, if I want to upload my game online, I can't use those meshes. I looked in the readme type file, and it says, "This model and its skins are not to be used in any TC or other program or graphical way without the author's consent, who would then have to consult Games Workshop which would suck abit."

Any other suggestions?

Yeah, I tried that too, I've gotten some things from there before...found some great stuff, but they were all in .max format, and I don't have 3ds max, I use blender, or in some other weird format I've never heard of.
