Has anyone used Tile Studio on any of their projects? If you have, would you recommend it and did you find it easy to use?
Tile Studio
Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Tile Studio Nope, but I just picked up Tudee. It rocks.

Not heard of that one. I just downloaded the demo and indeed it does look good. Are you up for coding an exporter and some BlitzMax demo code on how to load the maps into your own projects? I wouldn't know where to start on in.
I'm using it and i really like it, tools are great, animation is easy. Though i have never used the exporter to blitzmax yet. Only minus is the color palette isn't very convenient for me.
I'd definitely recommend Tile Studio (very easy to use).

Tudee's pretty much brand new... I was thinking of working with an xml parser to read in the map information. As far as using the dlls... I might have to chat to my brother about that one. He's the expert, I'm the newbie :)
I'm the newbie :)
That makes two of us.
On Tudee's website, it says, it can export to plain text, I don't think it would be too hard to code a loader for it.

Are you offering to code a loader for it?
It exports xml, so with the xml parsers already available for both B3D and Max, can't those be used?

No. I don't have time and need for it. Sorry.
Tile Studio is a great tool with some enormous gaps in its usability. The worst, in my opinion, are the total lack of an undo feature in the map editor and the poorly implemented copy/paste. If you don't mind those things, plus some major slowdowns when performing certain operation, Tile Studio really is pretty cool.
I don't know what Tudee is, but I am going to go look right now, because I have been tinkering with the beginnings of my own map editor, which I would really rather not have to code.
It's a shame Binary Phoenix's map editor died, that thing had a lot of promise.
Edit: Wow, Tudee is off to a great start. Tudee could use a few improvements and tweaks, but it has most of the elements I am looking for. Tudee's programmers even built their interface in the same way as the one was working on, right down to the "reload" button for tilesets.

I'm currently using Tile Studio on my spare time for one of my little project.
There is good and bad like any other generic tile editor.
On the good there is :
- Every level and tileset can be saved inside one project file
- Animation sequences
- You can have as many as copy/past predefined tiles
- BlitzMax exporter already exist !
- Possibility to insert Tile without ruin your existing level
- Handy tools to rotate in any size 3 layers of tiles (Tile studio will export every newly created tiles for you).
- Zoom/Grid/Flip/random fill features
- Can export a bitmap of the whole level
- You can create your own code generator to export your level
- Palette manager
- Sources available
On the bad we have :
- Animations not showing in edit view
- It doesn't sound possible to have multiple tileset for one level
- The bound tile proprieties is too simple, only cubic and 45° diagonals. You must use Tiles Data in order to create different ground level or slopes
- It's not possible to edit map with onion-skin in order to fit with background or foreground
- Big selections, screen refresh or automated fillin tools give you little bug on huge level
- No undo editing :(
- No more in development :(
All in All I recommend Tile Studio since it's free and very easy to use when you used to it.
The current exporter code is flexible enough and fit right in my engine.
I need to have a look at Tudee (thanks for the tips reactor ;)

The Tudee guys are also up for any suggestions, which is cool. I know for a newb like me it'll be some work getting a map fully working, but it's the kind of tile map editor I've been waiting for.
