I need music for my game? Where to look?

Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/I need music for my game? Where to look?

I'm nearing completion of my pacman clone and need some music for it without having to risk facing copyright laws (like the creators from Limbo of the Lost did).
I wonder how you the rest of you tackle this, and where do you look first. And what is legal to use? Is there maybe a site where I can get music for free or pay just a small fee to be able to use it officially in my game?

Take a look at my game here : Screenshot

I'm also asking directly to any musicians, if you have a song you want to share I would be happy if it would fit in my game, prefer Mod or XM files. Full credits will be put in the game offcourse.

Thanks for the reply Nawi.

I think Creative Commons music sharing license music will be ok if you want to make your games public domain/freeware, but what about selling your games?
Is there a difference between Indie software and Commercial software in this?

google royalty free music
some of it has a price attached, just look at the free royalty free stuff.
royalty free music has no licence attached, so you can use it in your game.

Thanks a lot, never heard of this kind of license before. So it's royalty free for me.

Search here.

Won't your pac-man clone fall into the same category of copyright laws?

As long as I don't call it PacMan or use the name PacMan anywhere in the game itself, it should be fine. Look at all those Pong, Breakout, Tetris, Space invaders and Asteroid clones. I don't use any of the original graphics in my version and even the gameplay is different.

Name it puki-man, and replace the dots with media.. :P
