Flagship product?

Why is Blitz3d still Blitz Research's flagship product, surely Max should take that title now?

Being that they haven't updated the demo in yonks, I'm guessing that the phrase you quote hasn't been updated for the same reason. On the products page, BlitzMax is already above Blitz3D, so BlitzMax is the flagship product, regardless of what it says.

I got the feeling, Blitz3D is still outselling BMax, which makes Blitz3D a flagship product. Right?

None is the flagship product as none has "must have outstanding features"
The only thing that one might take as granted is that BM + Maxgui stand above BlitzPlus but Blitz3D and BM are definitely distinct enough to be not on top of each other for the moment.

Personally, I think Blitz3D is still the choice for a novice game programmer. There can be few, who are new to programming, who don't hunger for 3D.

Hmmm... you got sales data from BRL to go with that so definitive statement? ;-)

I think the 3d is what calls in new programmers as it did me. But then I found myself making 2d games because I discovered that I liked them. For that reason I think b3d sells more, but when/if max3d comes out, I think it will take the title.

Well no. I don't really need to. A flagship product is not the product that sells the most. It is the product that a company is pushing the hardest, and devoting most of it's time to. So Blitz3D hardly qualifies.

By that measurement, BRL has no flagship product as nothing is pushed hard.
They progress somewhere but not even fast enough to be seen as a spare time focus project of a developer with Marks capabilities and experience.

Actually, the Flagship product is - well, should be, the one the company is most known for.

Maybe a little OT, but just a (personal) consideration about the main page of BlitzBasic.
It shows the 'products' in a 'vertical' order (Our flagship product is Blitz3D... Our latest product is BlitzMax... We also offer BlitzPlus...) - in general (for me) this layout seems to reflect a 'time order' which is not the case.
Regardless to the 'flagship product' (it's a BRL decision after all...and every user has is own opinion on what is the flagship product) I think it would be better (and a little modern) to show the products with a horizontal layout (Blitz3d | Bmax | BlitzPlus) maybe with the logo or a screenshot of the application, and maybe with the 'version number' exposed.
And some refreshing in the 'Products' page I think is needed: MaxGUI has NOT an image (in the page product) and only THREE OLD images in the MaxGui page! I mean the latest MaxGUI updates allow to show better GUI graphics!
Of course these are only personal tastes, nothing really related to the quality of products, but I think 'an image is better than 1000 words'....

Blitz3D rulez, therefore its flagship...yeah..
