Crysis vs Reality Screen shots

Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Crysis vs Reality Screen shots

Not sure if this was posted yet, but it looks pretty cool. Real life pics and the crysis rendition.

See more images here : here

you can tell the the one on the left side of screen is Crysis :) on the right is obvious that it's reallity :)

impressive. The only limit for the Cry Engine seems to be clouds...

This one shows up the clouds badly. Other wise, excellent ARTWORK<<< :o)

Still, as soon as you increase the resolution the magic is over.

This is the best one i can see:

Personally, I found the visuals in Crysis to be sexually stunning. I don't really understand why some people (not necessarily from this site) slated the graphics. Play it on a high-end system - I did.

Are those in game shots?

Yeah. Well, i assume it's people who have made the models and placed them in the engine :o)

I prefer to take the models out of their engine and put them in mine.

Imagine how boring it must be to have a job where you spend the whole time copying reality as closely as possible. Probably fun the first time just to see how close you can get. But doing that day in day out for months on end. Makes you hope they get a 3D digital scanner camera thingy some day.

3D Digital scanner cameras would be good to own. Holodecs would be better though.

Imagine the BB forum in 100 years if it lasts that long. There'd be people coding in BlitzHolodec 3D. A version for holodec programming.

Nothing boring about that, miniature diarama makers do that as a hobby.

Those look really nice, but some Blitz3D stuff can look like a photograph with such a low-res image.

Crysis looks awesome, but using such low-res images is kind of cheap.

..I agreed..I got something like that with use of Vray in max and export to B3D..

Photos <> Reality

one day it will be 'too real' - lol

X Naughty Alien : In what way you export vray in b3d? I tried many times but with no effect..
I found that many of the material of max can't be exported in b3d too.
Aza

Hi all,

Does anyone know the license fee of this engine?
Thanks in advance

Im using pipeline to export geometry/animations out of max..what I did is that simply each object on scene has name of the texture assigned on to it initially, before I convert all materials in to Vray materials..then simply do lighting with Vray and unwrap whole level on map channel 2..in runtime I just pass trough level hierarchy, reading names of objects and texturing objects/entities with corresponding texture wich has same name as entity name , as well as with exported lightmap, unwrapped in max over all geometry..and viola, beautifuly lightened level in b3D :)

RTTgroup is a realy nice lightmapping plugin for 3dsmax which works with Vray. I recommend it but its not cheap at $200. Like giles it lets you bake multiple meshes to a single lightmap whilst keeping the actual meshes seperate, and has better optimized UV packing tools than 3dsmax.

Used to make the Game The Witcher.

The difference here is that the lighting above is calculated in realtime including animated leaf shadows while your rendering of the still lightmap will take several hours.
This is an impressive example what can be achieved with this Screen Space Ambient Occlusion thingy...

In a realtime environment this looks better than anything that can be achieved with Blitz3D.

yeah, SSAO is kind of cool. You can get a better look overall with baked textures but then you have low resolution problems. SSAO is a post effect and being calculated in real time looks smoother than the usualy low res bitmaps.

Still quite expensive though.
