where can i download firmware for a Hewlet Picard 1040i?

Any relation to Jean-Luc?

Light Scripe 2.0 and the drive was brought from Digital Kingdom on Amazon (UK).

From the Hewlet Picard website?

You'll need version NCC-1701D ;)

hahahahahahah...I thought its Hewlett Packard :)

You'll need version NCC-1701D ;)

Actually that version of the ship was destroyed. The current version is the 1701E. O_o

Don't know why I needed to say that.

It doens't seem like HP provides any downloadable firmware links for that drive...

However, I did come across this:
http://www.cyberangels.org/community/orca/?action=goto&topic_id=165

Might want to try emailing their support people...

To prove a point that you are a Trekkie ;)

i LOL HAVE NO relation to "Jean-Luc" or (Captian Picard) (or star trek character names and NO relation to Harry Potter Charactor names)

I LOL am not a Trekkie ((....) LOL).

Kismo is not a Trekkie ((a LOL of LOL fact) (LOL))

(Hewlett Picard) ((Manufacture) ie Comuter Drives and Print and Computer (HP))

I Mr Andrew Mann.

Amon is out of order. "Any relation to Jean-Luc? "
Gfk is out of order "You'll need version NCC-1701D ;)"

Are you feeling ok?

What the hell has this thread got to do with bananas?

The standards on this site are slipping when all people can talk about are the toilet habits of a banana.

Amon is out of order. "Any relation to Jean-Luc? "

Hint: It's "Hewlett Packard", not "Hewlett Picard"

is there any rcp1 firmware about? (for the hewlett packard drive) . The Hewlett packard HP DVD WRITER 1040i.

Um.... have you asked Hewlett Packard? Or checked their site? Or Driverguide? Or even Google?

I feel sorry for "Andrew Mann" - he's been waiting a week for an answer.

http://welcome.hp.com/country/us/en/support.html

Or similar site.

EDIT:
Wait a minute - he surely could have Googled it - that is what I just did.

Here is one firmware update:
EDIT: USE THE SECOND LINK AS THIS IS A DIRECT LINK IN.

Make sure you do not downgrade your firmware.

Also, make sure you need to actually update your firmware - if the drive is fine and has no problems, don't assume updating the firmware will make it better.

EDIT:
This link is probably the best way forward:

Seconded -- if it ain't broken, don't fix it.

(I've bricked an old intel motherboard & a Linksys wifi router over the years with firmware-flashing-gone-wrong.)

what about region freeing the dvd writer? Region free with rpc1 firmware with no downgrade patched firmware.

(why post i picture of John-Luc Picard Doiron?)

Is this you?

This isn't the support forum for HP devices. It is best for you to contact HP or your retailer for support, any technical advice you get here is to be actioned at your own risk.

MMM (YMKRYMKRKR) ((i am not a actor or Actor John-Luc Picard (Patrick Stuwart))

Nebula seems to be making progress.

LOL @ TonyG XD

Andrew Mann: that's not the best forum for this kind of inquiries. You should search google for "region free"+"HP 1040i", or ask on sites like CD Freaks or AfterDawn.
Also, be sure that you apply the correct firmware, and be aware that you could make your player unusable if anything goes wrong (the procedure could break your guarantee too).
