CD/DVD writing software

What are you all using lately?

I use Nero but it has an utterly enormous footprint for what it does, and with every new version it just gets more and more bloaty. I need a tool that can burn CDs and DVDs. I also like Nerovision for creating DVDs with menus etc and the cover designer is handy sometimes, but that's it.

I don't fancy the Roxio one as I tried it ages ago and it just stinks. I couldn't get along with it at all.

Here's a place that may be worth a look for tools.

I use Nero7,Ultra ISO and DVDFlick for quick and dirty encoding ( It's cheaper than WinAVI ).

nero maybe getting bloaty but it save a lot of messing around with diferent tools ( unless you are doing mpg/AVI encoding then it's best to use another tool )

That. Just that. Don't know what you'd use for DVD movies with menus and such since I never needed to do that.

CDBurnerXP the last time I looked didn't work on Vista.

When's the last time you looked? I've been using it just fine under Vista for a long time.

Well, I looked about 5 minutes ago and installed it, and it does work in Vista.

Thanks Noel - looks like an awesome bit of software and less than 3MB. Just the job. :)

I was gonna suggest CDBurnerXP as well. It's great, especially for how small it is. I went to download a driver for my small usb mouse, it was 80mb. sod that!

Yeah, i think nero 8 is somewhere in the region of 180 MB...

Nero 7

I've been using Nero 6 Ultra for ages as I refuse to buy and install complete bloat for such a simple task as creating a DVD.

cdburnerxp looks excellent for the filesize and I'll definitely be giving that a whirl. Thanks for the linky Noel.
