Major PC component breaks - ARGH!

As PC problems go, this is about as bad as it gets.

You know the little legs that hold the back of your keyboard up? One of those has snapped off!

I now have to have my keyboard flat on the desk and its all sloping away from me. I don't like this at all.

clearly you pound your keyboard too hard ;-) (or buy inferior makes).

Super glue is pretty cheap and it usually solves the problem within minutes...

And then... a new keyboard might be less expensive than a tube of glue. :-)

My condolences, this must be a very stressful time for you? I remember when I had to restart my computer. It was difficult but I coped. :)

Its a Microsoft Internet keyboard that cost me something like £25 about 4 years ago.

Got a couple of spares myself, but, I like this one. Or I did.

I'm going to bung a load of superglue on it.

GfK, I've had the same disaster happen to me... so now I have my keyboard sitting on a slightly larger than usual deck of cards box, which just happens to be the perfect 'propping up' tool.

I've got my knackered old Maxtor hard drive propping mine up at moment.

I've glued the leg back together, but I've accidentally squeezed half a tube onto it cos the tube was gunked up with dry glue. It'll probably be stuck to the table by morning :/

Now you understand the wisdom of the cards box.

I had a similar issue but found propping it up with my forefinger cures the problem. The difficulty came when the other leg broke and I used the same solution. I have now been stuck here unable to move for a week.

This is a perfect example of why today's young people are taught from an early age to type with their tongues.

Use a chiselled rubber and some superglue! (thats an 'eraser' in american ;)

..Or dig deep and go get a new one :)

Heh. I think keyboard are supposed to slopw down at the back slightly now anyway, to help prevent RSI. The ones with feet at the back force your wrist to bend upwards so your fingers can still hang down and reach the higher keys. Whilst modern ones slope down slightly at the back enabling you to keep your whole arm straight at the wrist. Was it you that was talking about RSI the other day?

I hate those new lightweight keyboards too, they don't stand anything.

The best keyboard I ever had was the original IBM PS/2 keyboard, you know the white sledgehammer which weight 20kg and is undestroyable.

I poured few times some beer, cider, coffee and other substances over it, and it started to act wierd. Then I threw it into the bathtub, and let it dry for 1 month, and after that it worked again!

Meanwhile I used one of my other keyboards while the IBM keyboard was drying.

Currently I'm using a newer version IBM keyboard, it's black and it's plastic, so it can't quite stand the load as my white iron keyboard.

Well, the hard drive accident was self-inflicted.

The keyboard is old - just wear and tear. They don't last for ever.

KeyTronic is my favorite with real steel springs.

they sound real and cost is only 120 $

I'm with evak, I think keyboars are supposed to slope backwards.

I had RSI so i snapped off the keyboard legs and selotaped a thick lump of paper to the front of my keyboard. Pain is rare now. :-)
