Environment Artists?

Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Environment Artists?

I'm going to be contacting a few artists soon with five or six small jobs I have. It's going to involve modelling and texturing (diffuse and normal map.) It would need to be someone who is very good with scifi/techno/industrial style environments. If anyone is such an artist, or knows of such an artist they'd like to recommend, I'd appreciate it.

I'd imagine each job would be a day of work, maybe not even quite that, but it took me about a day to do the first piece, so I can't imagine it would take a real artist any longer. It's not essential that all the work goes to the same person, so it doesn't need to be someone who has a lot of time available, but it does need to be someone who is very good at following instructions because the requirements are very specific.

The work is paid, 50% upfront, 50% on delivery.

I could do something for you, but the other option is to visit the artists listed at the indiegamer forums. Some of those guys are much better than I am at environmental art (if that's what I think it is).

Thanks, I've been looking through the portfolios on IndieGamer. Of course, with IndieGamer being casual-centric, most of them are either character specialists, 2D specialists or at least people working in a non-realistic style.

You did the artwork for Cellblock Squadrons, I take it? I remember thinking it was a good looking game when I saw it, so I may well be in touch when I've managed to get a proper description written out.

I did, yes. I'll send you a pm over at indiegamer and we can chat. If my style doesn't suit what it is you're after, I'll help you find the right person.

EDIT: Actually, I sent you an email. It seems I'm having a few net problems getting to some websites.

I can set you up with our artist, and won't charge any fees for myself.

Thanks Reactor, have responded to your email.

Thanks Josh, that would be good. I'll email you when I've put together a proper description of the specs.
