IDEal for Blitzmax
Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/IDEal for Blitzmax
I'm sorry that I'm writing these here, the reason is, IDEal forums look like they are ignored by the maker of this great IDE and there is no contact information of the author.
I love IDEal and I'm using it with Blitz3D but do you plan to make a BlitzMax version? (Please don't recommend me to use Blide, I don't like it)
Yes this is a nice IDE . I think i read somewhere he was not going to do a BlitzMax version.
I too have tried to contact the author of IDEal several times now but sadly I have not heard back from him or on his forums as you say. He is normally quite quick in responding so I`m not sure what the current situation is.
It would be a shame though if IDEal development ceased as it is a great IDE for B3D, probably the best in fact.
Jason.

Said above. Thanks anyway. I hate those IDE's which try to copy Microsoft's IDE's too but there is no more options as it seems.
Mortiis, just out of interest how stable do you find IDEal in it`s current state? Have you been using it long or in a lengthy project?
Jason.
Hi, I have been using IDEal for the last year on a commerical project. The only bug I come across is sometimes the 'strict' button on the top of the application dissapears, requireming a overinstall. I have never lost and source or had any crashing bugs from IDEal.
Yes, I've been using it since it's released.
I didn't have any crashes or bugs. It's just very easy to set and use.
I can't change the color preset to BlitzMax in Visual Studio and it's full of bugs. I had 2 crashes in my first 5 minutes.
Didn't see that..
Hi, Mortiis.
Andrej works (the last i know) on a new projekt managment for IDEal. BlitzMax support is not planned, simply because he dont have BlitzMax.
bye
Having a look at Project Studio express :)
I like the default IDE -- if only it had function folding, it'd be perfect.
Yeah I can pretty much confirm what Abbrexxes is saying. I saw a thread a while back which convinced me that we will not see a Max version of IDEal. Shame... I would pay for it.
Abrexxes, when did you last hear from Andrej if you do not mind me asking? I haven`t seen any activity from him for months on the forums and cannot contact him through email either. I`m just hoping that he hasn`t given up on IDEal.
Jason.
I dont now , i have a new system and my old mails are gone. But i think 3 months.
bye
I switched from Protean to IDEal more than one year ago and found it to be the best of the bunch. Great customization, very light, and efficient (you can change the aspect and color of almost everything, which really makes the difference for me). It works flawlessly and it is very stable (so far I have found just a small bug). Project Studio is heavier and comes with bugs.
The latest version I tried of BLide was 0.7.5.2, and it wasn't as good as IDEal yet. I tried the latest and even though it uses a pull down menu as a code explorer instead of an organized panel and it lacks raster fonts support (I use one of them for clarity, though there are decent TT fonts as well... IDEal has better font handling overall) it looks quite good. It is a good replacement but yes, max support for IDEal would be great.
@Dorion:

The panel is called shortcuts list, and it is available and organized.
Didn't notice the panel on the left... the code explorer is actually better than in IDEal, since it uses a tree structure and indexes all files separately.
IMHO BlitzMax default IDE needs 2 things. Saving Workspaces and Auto-Completion (Intellisense?)
These 2 features and the light design of IDEal made me love it. It's a shame that I won't be seeing a BlitzMax version. Especially with new 3D engine coming for Blitzmax by Mark :(
