Game save woes...

Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Game save woes...

I used to think i was one of the unluckiest people around sometimes. Now, i know it's true.

I'm playing away on the old C&C red alert, and i'm way into a mission, like 2 hours, and i like to save every so often, incase something goes pretty wrong. I have to capture two tech centres and destroy an Iron Curtain, so:

I build a naval base, and two cruises. These guys decimate anything they shoot at. So, i level nearly all the base, but i'm trying to leave any tanks there either. The cruisers are pretty inaccurate too, they can miss there target by a good bit. SO, you might have guesses what they did.

I think to myself, it's a pretty good time to save. So i save the game, go back into it, 2 seconds later, "MISSION FAILED". Bloody cruiser blew up the tech centre. So i reload and have less than 2 seconds to find my cruisers and halt them before they destroy it. Tried every trick i know, but i'm just not quick enough :o(

go straight to the options and turn the game speed down to the slowest it'll go, that should give you more time to stop the cruisers.

Ah, good thinking ;o) cheers!

failing that, run it in DOSBox, and slow the computer down to 386 speed then you'll stretch those seconds out to hours.

Why not just cheat?

on a completely nerdy note. This reminds me of the star trek TNG episode where they're stuck in a time loop, every time they loop round, they have a few minutes to avoid crashing into another ship before having to start the loop again.

Don't know why that popped into my head. Must be engrained on my mind for some reason.

Yeah, that was a cool one. Worf got really angery because he kept losing at cards and they stored information in data head, and he kept dealing weird card patterns.

So that the other versions if himself knew that he was stuck in a causality loop, which, in turn let him decide whether or not to obey Rikers command.

And if you haven't seen the episode, I wont mention what Data chooses.
