Feeling pressured to write games now

Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Feeling pressured to write games now

I mentioned in the Blitz beginners section that I've put some Blitz Basic for Beginners videos on youtube:

I started them last Monday, and after 8 days, I've got a total of seven programming videos and one game video.

I've had over 500 views and already have 3 subscribers. It feels great, but at the same time, quite scary. Having subscribers means they'll be expecting a lot to come. This should be good for me in the long run as it will drive me work harder on my projects so I've got something to show off. It also means I'll have to start thinking about some Intermediate level tutorials soon. So if anyone's got any ideas, let me know.

I plan to finish covering all commands in Blitz2D before moving onto 3D, all the tutorials will have some game orientated use in mind for each function, such as loading levels or high scores with file functions, generating anim strips for sprites with the rotateimage function, split screen play with viewports, etc... you get the picture.

Let me know if there's anything people think I should be covering and I'll try to include it.

Thats good man :o) Must be a demand, and i've said before, i think video tutorials are excellent. Especially for topics such as working the debugger and such things that are hard to explain.

Keep up the good work! And yeah, i know what you mean, once people are listening and watching what you do and following you to a certain extent, you do feel a duty of care to deliver.

The more you give people, the more they expect from you.

The solution is simple - do nothing for free.

Thank you santa ;o)

He has a point though :o) Don't feel you have too.

oh yeah, of course. I'm realy just making the videos as an exercise for myself more than anything. If I thought any videos were good enough to sell as a pack, I would do. But right now I'm just happy adding to the small amount of useful content there is on youtube.

I'm quite pleased actually, as the guys who made me think to do this "gyrovorbis" have just subscribed to my channel, and I didn't even ask them too. Maybe it's because they're using BlitzPlus for their level editor, don't know.

I urge you all to lok them up though and see what they're up to:

you should make some videos on internet programming. It seems to be a popular topic :)

When you said subscribers I assumed you meant like to a paid set of tuition videos or something, didn't realise they were free. Anyway good luck with it.
