Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/capture a game movie

hi, i want to capture a video of my game, to show it in youtube...

i download the program fraps, i see some pleople use it...
but when i capture video, with frap demo, the game reduce fps to 3 or 4 por secound.... too slow... is the same if i use 640x480 or 1024x768, allways run slow..

i try window mode, or full screen, and is the same...

what can i use to capture?

sorry if this question are already in this forum, i can find the answer...

saludos, Santiago

Fraps seems to work for me although the output is not smoother it's much more than 3FPS.

You could possibly try grabbing the backbuffer into a memory buffer and then saving the memory buffer as RAW data, and then later use some program to join the raw images together as a movie?

You can speed up fraps (and other video capture programs) by picking a less CPU-intensive codec / compression algorithm. Do a quick one first (Like the ancient indeo codec) and then convert it to your desired format after the fact.
