What advantages/disadvantages is there to using Flip 1 vs. flip -1?

Just from messing around, it seems switching to flip 1 gets rid of the jitter of graphics that bugs the heck out of me, while flip -1 has jitter...

Anyone know what causes this jitter and what the advantages/disadvantages the two flip settings have?

I only use 0 or 1.

0 - Do not wait for vertical blank before flipping. Useful to see how fast your loop can run.

1 - Wait for vertical blank before flipping. Results in smooth looking animation if you're main loop can render at refresh rate.
