I've just discovered my girlfriend's laptop has been crashing out to the BSOD equivalent (Grey screen of death?) average once per day for a while. You'd have thought that would be something she'd think wasn't normal but hey ho! I did a hardware test with the OSX disk but the memory is fine... I'll do the longer test later but in the meantime, any ideas what could be causing this? I formatted and reinstalled OSX a couple of days ago so it's not any nasty registry entries or apps.

However, you should not only download the latest OS updates, but also all available Firmware updates for that machine and install them. Not all firmware patches are distributed through Software Update, so you should go to apple.com and search the support and downloads section.

It's possible to put the extended Apple Hardwaretest in loop mode. you could start that before you go sleep, and look at the result when waking up.
