Need more details on gallery pictures

Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Need more details on gallery pictures

The gallery is meant to give users an indication of what can be created using BRL products. But they need to state what product was used or it's pointless.
Also, I see there's screenshots in there of 3D engines people are making, these aren't being written using BRL products (i.e. leadworks), so even though they look very nice, why are they in the gallery, we may aswell put irrlight and OGRE screenshots in there since you could use them through a wrapper in BMax if you wanted to.

A very good idea...

I totally agree, sometimes I wonder if something is created using Blitzmax with MiniB3D or Blitz3D.

Yep would be good.
I do like seeing screenshots from 3rd party engines that can be used from BRL products as well though.

I'd like to see a data entry field for language used too. Also maybe for project status e.g. prototype, alpha, beta, final etc.

Would be nice to have a dropdown box to choose which blitz product(s) were used, but you will find that no matter how you have an intention for something people will use it for whatever they want to. You can't stop people from posting anything and everything unless you make it very strict. I personally am happy to see any and all projects because somewhere along the lines Blitz IS involved, plus I want to see what kind of things are being worked on and what is possible.

LE is written mostly in BlitzMax.

I dont' see the problem: if someone posts something to the gallery he/she is a BRL user, so it's probabily something written with or for BRL products.
It should be better a 'gallery' targeted for games or images or applications or engines, finished or WIP: everything-all-togheter is only a mess.
Of course this is only my opinion.
(I would like to DELETE my only post in gallery - it's something obscene....:D)

And while you're at it, you'd better remove everything which uses AShadow, Tom's addons, the fast 2d stuff, or any other DLL's because those effects weren't made in Blitz code either.

Declaring which products are being used, on the other hand, would be helpful.

Leadwerks is written mostly in BlitzMax? Cool :)

Great suggestion.

I don't think I have posted any flow stuff since it doesn't really seem right. Being able to leave a comment with your gallery entry would be nice.

You can leave comments, but people generally don't write much. So it'd be nice if there was some fields that you have to fill out, such as what version of Blitz is it programmed in, and whether you've used any additional DLLs/libraries.

Uhhu.. where is this secret function I have yet to find!?
