"Beyond the Rave" - Hammer horror is back!

Hammer Films have finally begun to release their first film in over thirty years (!!!) on myspace. It's aptly titled Beyond the Rave and it seems to be "Dracula AD 1972 crossed with Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels". The movie has been split into twenty episodes (each lasting only five minutes long) for online viewing, but it was conceived, written, and directed like to be a regular non-episodic movie. It will be released on DVD in a few months in its optimal, non-episodic form. The first three five minute "episodes" are available to view right now - but only if you're a UK resident, I think.

As a fan of Hammer horror movies, I'm hugely excited about this!

Why is this on MySpace?

It's a dodgy attempt to get the Hammer "name" out there to a new young audience, I think.

But, who cares?

It's a hammer horror film! With vampires!! If only they could dig up Peter Cushing to give them a good hiding, but you can't have everything.

I wonder if Christopher Lee will play Count Dracula again?

Dracula's not in it. And besides, I think that Christopher Lee would rather eat hot coals than play Dracula again. He hated playing the role. According to him, most of the time he was emotionally blackmailed into it (we'll have to fire half our staff if you won't make another Dracula movie! etc.) Wish he would, though.
