Out of interest, do different places have different dates for birth signs? Because I've always considered myself a scorpio

The date and time at which the SUN moves into one of the constellations in the signs of the zodiac is the moment at which the `sun sign` changes. The only way you'd be a different sun sign is if you enter a different timezone, so that the sun might happen to cross to a new sign +- 12 hours, but since the sun is in a sign for about a month, moving around the earth isn't always going to trigger a change of signs unless you're near to the day on which it shifts. Within 24 hours everywhere on earth becomes the same sun sign.
You could figure that being on one side of the world versus the other would give your `view` of the constellations a slight offset, or at least that the time at which you see the sun is different. At www.astro.com for example they use Greenwich Mean Time to determine the current state of the sky. But there is also something called a relocation chart whereby when you move to a different location on the earth (or beyond) the configuration of planets changes. You have to usually cross a few timezones in order for a planet which was in one sign to move into another, and this mainly applies to the rising sign and the quick-moving planets like mercury, venus, sun moon and mars. Moving somewhere else on the planet isn't barely going to have any influence in whether pluto, for example, changes to a new sign, because of the hundreds of years it takes to go through all the signs. The sun however does change signs about once per month. The rising sign is whatever constellation of the zodiac is on the horizon at the time of a given event, such as your birth, and it changes about every 2 hours. If you are born at midnight you will be Aries rising, and then every 2 hours it shifts to a new sign. I am Libra rising, born at 6:26pm.
When I was born, the planet Uranus had only *just* slipped into the constellation Scorpio by a matter of seconds. Since Uranus's (ha ha) year is many earth years, It'd barely make any difference to turning it into `Uranus in Libra` by being born somewhere else on the planet, but say I was born in Australia a the same moment or a few hours/minutes earlier, maybe that would change it. The slow moving planets define `generations` of people, because whole groups of people across a span of years will have the same slow-moving planets in the same signs. This particularly applies to Saturn Uranus Neptune and Pluto. When one of those planets changes to a new sign there is a shift in the identity and expression of the people born under that combination. Due to the short-lived retrograde motion of one of the planets, the flower-power era of the 70's was quite short lived.
