Ikaruga on Live!

Just a heads up because I know some other people on this forum care, there is a new updated version of Ikaruga (The Last Great Shoot-em-up) now available on Live for the 360.

I downloaded the demo the other day and it does look like they've done a good job of updating it for the 360 and they've added Online Co-Op play (HURRAH!).

Looks like I'm finally going to have to buy some Microsoft Points, ~£5 is worth it just to play it on my current console without the new features. Looks like I can finally find space for my 'cube in the attic.

One of the awesomest games ever....and frickin hard too...

yeah, the 360 is getting really good for older games that've been updated. I play N+, which I know isn't old but is pretty simple but very playable. I also play Arkadian warriors (a simple but addictive RPG), bomberman, and doom (smoothest doom ever).

Really fun game :D I'm getting better at it except for when I start thinking about what I'm doing, then it all goes pear shaped!

Gah! Why do I have to spend my weekdays in damn Switzerland! I want o be home with my 360 to play this! Have to wait till Friday night (although the girlfriend hates it when I come home only to go straight onthe xbox ;-P )

Once you get past level 3 it stops being very hard, from then on it's just insanely difficult. I think insane difficulty is thrown around in games much too much these days, the trick is not just to make the game difficult but to make you want to come back for more too.

Does this game work well over live? I'd have thought even the slightest lag and you're royally screwed

I've yet to try it, I imagine it will depend quite a lot on how good an internet connection both of you have. It is going to be problematic over the internet because the game is so tight that even 50ms latency could be a real problem. It also supports system link if a friend wants to bring over their box which is good for low latency gaming. Still I'd rather have it than not and simply observing other people's games could be quite thrilling.
