The Shrek films were NOT made by Pixar.

I'm suprised they messed up an article like that, the only way Dreamworks is in any way related to Disney is its founder (whom resigned from Disney to make the studio) Jeffrey Katzenberg.

What do they mean when they say its released in 3D ?. Do you need funkys glasses to see 3d?, or is it on a computer screen using an opengl/direct x render?. I feel a little lost in that marketing statement.

It doesn't say they were, at least that isn't what I got from reading it.

The first sentence mentions animated movies. The second sentence mentions ToyStory's release date and says we haven't looked back. The third sentence lists some of the animated movies released since ToyStory. It lists the Shrek series, which are separate from the next ones because of "not to mention" then it lists the others which are attributed to pixar by "and it looks like DisneyPixar productions"

How would you know? The 3D versions of the movies haven't even been released yet ;c)

Surely I'm not the only one who thinks that kiddie CGI movies have reached saturation point? They all follow the same formula, conventions, feature the same character types and convey the same simplistic inspirational messages ("Love conquers all!", "Value your friends!", "You CAN succeed!", "Believe in yourself!", "value your friends!").

If you've seen one then you've seen 'em all. Cars, rats, dinosaurs, robots, fish, ants, super heroes, ogres, toys... it doesn't seem to matter, the movies are all fundamentally identical beneath the surface.

I agree, bah humbug! Kids today don't know they're born! I used to have to watch films on VHS for gods sake! And we only had cable with 35 channels. Oh, and the TV was only 24 inches big! </sarcasm>

For me, I don't know if it's marketing or subconcious childlike wonder or what, but apart from the first couple of Shrek films, the Disney/Pixar ones just always seems to have a small indefinable *something* that's sets them apart from the wannabes that came later. Even something like Ice Age (which I quite liked) just lacked... "it".

Personally, I love this sort of stuff - can't wait for Toy Story 3.

I'll repurchase the DVD's purely to watch them in 3D. I can't wait - bring it on.

Good to see a Toy Story 3, Toy Story is one of my favourites.
My daughter always had it on so I must of watched it over 100 times, still enjoy it.
I will of course purchase the dvds again. For my little one obviousley.

How did Shrek end up in this lineup? It's Dreamworks, not Disney/Pixar...

I don't like them remaking older films in 3d (maybe they just have nothing else to do?) but I'm very much looking forward to new titles - not specifically sequels.

... I'm feelin' a remake of Bambi in 3D. Some CGI gunplay would be innovative in a kid's movie.
