Only *you* can stop Uwe Boll
Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Only *you* can stop Uwe Boll
Fed up with Uwe Boll's awful computer game franchise movies? Well the "cult" (can't help thinking I've misspelled that) director has said that 18,000 signatures on an online petition begging him to stop isn't enough. But apparently a million signatures will do. Just a million people who can't stand the dross he makes? Come on, surely we can do that!

Surely the best way to stop him is to not pay money to watch his "movies"?
heh, I haven't to my knowledge seen a single one of his films. Games are usualy shallow enough when they are just games. Can only imagine how tedious they are when they are supposed to have some kind of engaging story driving them.
Surely the best way to stop him is to not pay money to watch his "movies"?
Apparently not. I did a quick read up and apparently most of his movies lose 80% of the money invested in them, but it doesn't stop people lining up to finance new ones. Perhaps it's some German tax write-off or something, but whatever it is, but people not watching his movies doesn't seem to affect him.
I stand corrected. In that case, the man must die.
Funny topic. ;)
I simply ignore his movies. That's all attention he'll ever get from me.
I wonder if Uwe Boll fans are called "Bollocks"? You know, in the same way that fans of Doctor Who are called "Whovians" and fans of Star Trek are "Trekkies" or "Trekkers".
I signed the petition, read an email, and then refreshed the page -- almost 100 new signatures in about a minute. Incredible.
I almost like Uwe... sure, his movies are crap, but I wonder how many of you would like to be in his shoes? I sure would like to make game-related movies and especially "direct" Kristanna Loken in a tight suit! :)
And since his finace scheme is what it is, no success or failure can make him stop, it's irrelevant. I enjoy every movie that has interesting theme and fleshes out the genre, like games or cartoons. I even liked latest AvP, sort of... and that goes to prove that others can make Boll-class movies too.
I wouldn't like to be Uwe Boll. I'd rather be artistically successful than commercially successful. I'd rather have genuine talent than have to make use of legal loopholes to finance my work. Boll is a hack, plain and simple, and the money that is used to finance his movies could have been allocated to fund the work of more promising directors.
broke 100,000 entries this morning. At this rate I estimate it will take about 20 days to get 1 million.
112837 since I signed it :)
*EDIT*
in the few seconds it took me to sign it and then view the list, another 13 have signed it.
We're well on the way there.
Who the hell is he? Never heard of him :o)
So HE was partly responsible for the Alone in the Dark film. Me goes to sign petition!
I don't watch his movies but I do want him to stop.

Man, i signed the petition, and clicked to view. 30 People had signed it since then :D
I signed 5 minutes ago, 100 more people had signed in that 5 minutes, the way it's going and as it picks up momentum there could be 10,000,000 on that sucker.

After we're done hanging this guy out to dry, can we have a whip-round to pay to have Michael Winner shot?
Signed. Lets take the bloody .... down!
Even if the petition gets two or three million, he's not going to stop. He's the kind of guy who thinks that even a million strong anti-Boll petition is just more good publicity.
I predict the petition'll get 1 million and Boll will dismiss it. People will then hate him even more. He's sort of like Xylvan on steroids.
Why stop at film makers, they are the tip of the iceberg - how about politicians that stifle creativeness in the software industry....
for those that can't be bothered searching for the petition, it's here:

I'll pay my next month's wages for that, so long as we can throw Danny Baker in there as a twofer.
Whoops, I really should have added a link to the petition. I've added that into my original post now too. Thanks for that.
133376 signatures now, I've not seen any of his films, but now I kind of want to. Don't worry, I won't pay to watch them. Don't want to encourage him.
i can think of
someone else who might need a petitton ;)

Please don't sully this serious thread with your petty bickering :)
Surely the best way to stop him is to not pay money to watch his "movies"?
No.The best way is with "video games made me do it" violence. Be creative. Crush him under a huge block of concrete, painted red, and shaped like the 'L' piece in tetris.
Signed!
Heh.
Alternatively, lure him to a specially prepared location where he must make a series of perfectly timed jumps, else fall to his doom! And put it on Youtube.
This petition needs some publicity! only 171000 :/
"if you really look at my movies you will see my real genius" .. "I am the only ******* genius in the business"
Remaking games as films is genius?
Hahaha...My films are financed with Nazi gold... XD
Before I watched his movie I just didn't like his movies, now I really I don't like him. In the second one he says that if someone insults him he wants to "track them down and rip them apart". He sounds like a thug.
Darkheart
has he made a non game movie?
from what i remember alone in the dark wasnt a bad movie (named after a video game that it bore little to no resemblance to) it could have been better and if it was a TV movie and not a probably straight to video cos it tanked in other markets and called something else it would be WAY better
ie change nothing but the title
constantine (no idea whos behind this one writing/directing) i had no idea it was constantine from hellblazer the dc/vertigo comic so i went in and watched a passable movie whilst everyone in comicdom was at it for what it had done to the name and stories already published
V for vendetta how ever knocked the socks off the comic due to its massive rewrites leaving nothing much than the names and a few (distinct) faces (hell even the novel of the movie was better than the original)
