"Developing a new MMO requires a lot of money and a lot of time. If you are starting today and don't have at least three years and $30 million dollars, consider developing in another genre." - So true.
P.S.: I love GW!

Not tried guildwars, but I have played most of WoW. The main you think as a games developer when playing WoW is ust how vast and varied everything is. It'd take a lone developer probably a few years to just build one city from WoW, then multiply that by a few hundred and you get the scale of WoW.
I personally enjoy playing LOTRO. I didn't think GW was that great of a game.
To each their own I suppose.

The sad fact is that many dev teams STILL ignore this advice and end up wasting far too many hours on something that (even if 100% completed) won't attract more than 10 - 20 fans at MOST... and I'm being generous.
