I'll probably put some things on here and see how it goes. I have been wanting to see something like this for a while. The problem with Turbosquid is it isn't specific for real-time models, and there is no quality control. I talked to Rick about this, and I think they are going about it the right way. The models I have seen are good quality, and the system seems easy to use.

TGC are going to take take 50% of the sales - I can see why they are so eager to do this - isn't that the same cut as TurboSquid? Yet TGC surely have nowhere near the same overheads to recover?

turbsooquid takes the same sorta amount off you.

So, its up and running now then ? Should be useful.

I'd rather contact each author direct and purchase direct from them. I currently don't recognise TGC's belief that they are due 50%.

how are they due 50% if all they do is sell it for you?
shouldnt they be like all the other 10%ers out their

I think that's a great idea but only if the quality control is good enough.
I wonder when TGC will do the same to sell Indie games. That would be very interesting as well!

50%? Screw that, they get nothing.

If they can generate the traffic, it can still be worth it.

50% of a thousand sales in your pocket is a whole lot more than 100% of 5 sales, after all.

Good thing is they add this model store into the FPS Creator x10 so while user creates a level and thinks "hmm a demon model would be great here", he clicks on the library and buys one.

If TGC had quality control, DBP wasn't released before v6.2 so But it makes sense to sell it there as well for promotional effort as they get many 3d programming noobs nowaday thanks to the MS VC++ 2008 Express GDK deal so an easy cash cow actually.

Do you mean it would be good if they did it or it is good because they already have done it? Either way, agreed, that would be the perfect way to market these. Embed them into the tool itself, and you've got the perfect impulse purchase when someone is making a level.

I know it's a little offtopic, but they use embedded content downloads in Crackdown on the 360. You have a special mission on your map. But you go to it you're told to download the content to play that particular mission. Annoyed me when I first noticed it though cause it feels like they're just trying to flog you extras instead of selling you a complete game. If something isn't included in the software you own, it should be mentioned in documentation, not put in the program like it's already there, although it's not.

Well, I don't own the FPS Creator but I thought they already did it according to those I read from "the game creators newsletter." If I'm mistaken, I think they should add it.

and because the store is built into the heart of FPS Creator you can be sure thousands of users will be browsing your models time and time again.

The great news is that ultimately we'll be rolling the store out to our other game creation products so whether your customers are painting a level in FPS Creator or compiling assets for their latest Dark Basic Pro project, with a single click of a button they can be transported to the store to check our your models.
