Hello
did anybody try the new dxstudio v2.3.1 release ?
What do you think of this engine ?
From the price/power balance is OK, and have free version for testing purpose, should worth a try.
Look about it's comments if you're interested.
http://www.devmaster.net/engines/engine_details.php?id=448You can look some similar class DX9 engines like TV3D/PowerRender, they have good functions/editors too.
I just tried it out for a bit, it's actually very easy to use and not that slow. Anyone else? I'm wondering if it's possible to create standalone apps without using their player?
From the forum, haven't tested it:
"While you can do all the above with ActiveX, in fact there is another option to the ActiveX player - the Tools -> Build EXE function takes the main player EXE and compiles the .dxstudio document into it, producing a single EXE that you can distribute as you like without any other files. The EXE will also detect and prompt to install DirectX 9 if not found. This way you can choose to either redistribute the player and '.dxstudio' docs (more suitable for multiple docs or embedded use), or standalone EXEs (simple to use as all the user needs to do is run the EXE). "
I tried that, created a single .exe and it still opened in their player.
it will always open their player. difference is just "do you need to install it or will it run the whole thing as one packaged embedded solution"
Their technology is focused around the player.
