Animation tool.

I'm looking for an animation tool that will allow me to make up .3ds or .x animations. You know the ones without bones? I know blitz3d does them, as it's in the samples and runs fine. I need this type of animation, as bones is too complex, in terms of processing. It's for robotic type models, so fits perfectly.

Does anyone know of such a tool?

Blender is a good 3D modeller for that. It does keyframe animations well, and you can make them easily. The interface takes a bit to get used to, but it's nice.
