Best Graphics in a Blitz game

Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Best Graphics in a Blitz game

In contrast to the "worst graphics" thread, I thought I'd make a positive thread.

So which Blitz games have the best graphics? There's tons to choose from and I'll get the ball rolling with:

- Eschalon: Book 1 (has a great intro/title page and in-game is good too).
- Runes of Avalon 2: Great graphics throughout and spectacular particle effects.
- Inca Quest: I always like the look of these graphics and the smoothness of the whole interface
- Platypus: The clay model graphics are just great and very original.

I don't really know that many Blitz games..but from what I've seen, I'd say Cletus Clay takes the biscuit even though it's not done yet.

If Cletus Clay counts ( being that it's not finished ) then it's head and shoulders above everything else for me.

If it doesn't, then I guess Legends of Idhuriel just beats out Carpman's unnamed train sim.

EDIT: Come to think of it, I don't know if either of those is finishede either.

Can we expand this to simulations and applications?

I could then include some of my own pieces:

- ss Great Britain simulation
- NNC Nulcear Decomissioning simulation
and a game I have recently completed but can't speak about just yet.

IPete2.

eschalon probly, for the animation and nice little graphics

IPete2: I was cunningly avoiding mentioning my own games ;-) But you can mention them! Yeah the graphics are pretty darn cool in your simulations.

Thanks for the props, Grey. But don't count yourself out- Fairway Solitaire looks great and is so covered in polish it should be on every Blitz developer's "must see" list.

Yeah. Cletus Clay / Platypus definitely.

i dont check out games as much as i should
im with flame duck here platypus rocks

when coder and artist are the same and both are polished what more can you add (apart from a coin slot)

<cough> I think Tank Universal at least merits a mention - and it's a finished product.

Agreed it looks great!

Isn't Delivery being done in B3D? If so it gets my vote.

a vote for tank universal here in the 3d genre.....

3D - tank universal
2D - Playplus (2D Shooter)

Tank Universal from a style point definetly. Love them gfx :o) Delivery is also great. Tie between them too in my eyes.

And cleatus clay for the 2d one.

deduct points for 'puki'ing the look and feel of tron (sorry)

Fairway Solitaire gets my vote for best graphics.

The graphics in CubeZ aren't too bad :)

Definitely Tank Universal... very nice.

Try the demo.

Now everyone's pimping their own games tsk tsk ;-)

Tachyon thanks dude, very kind! I didn't make the graphics of course, but I had a lot of input in how they turned out (I'm fussy and kept making suggestions) + added the code polish of course.

Duffer: Thanks!

I always thought this looked cool.

I don't know anything about the technical side of 3d but looking from an aesthetic standpoint this has always been my favorite.

Another vote for Tank Universal.
The style is brilliant.

Naked War is also a very attractive game, with lots of humorous touches in the gfx department.

Anything by Filax. Especially Tachyon Storm.

Anything by Fredborg. Especially Youropa.

Definately Youropa, but is it even written in a blitz language?

3d- tank universal
2d- Echalon book 1

As yes Youropa looks great.

Problem is with gallery images and demo videos of incomplete games is we may never see the final game so I'm not sure it count's really. I could just render up an Amazing 3D scene and say "that's my forthcoming Blitz3D game".

I am generally impressed by all the Rock Solid Games games, so Inca Quest gets my vote.

Fairway has good graphics too. While it doesn't look like the greatest one it does the job very well.

It's easier to name games with great gfx than just one with greatest gfx.
