Must have Wii Games.....

Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Must have Wii Games.....

My mother in law is giving her grandchildren her Wii, yay, our first stab at some must have games are:-

Number Game name

1 Super smash Bros

2 Sonic and Mario Olympic Games

3 Sims 2 castaway

4 House of the Dead 2&3 (not for the kids!)

Wii sports is coming with it... any other strong recommendations ?

I like Super Paper Mario, WarioWare Smooth Moves, MLB Power Pros Baseball, Carnival Games, and Rayman Raving Rabbids 2.

I pretty much agree with jhanson, and there's a joke in RRR2 about RRR1 I think. they're both great games.

Mario Kart when it is released in 3 weeks :)
Wii Fit potentially as well thought I skip that for Smash Brothers.

yeah, I quite fancied RRR2 but my son wasn't overly keen.....

Super Mario Galaxy

I also really liked Mercury Meltdown

For the most part, I agree with Eikon.

I miss my Wii :(... I got a new 1080p LCD and decided to sell the Wii to buy a PS3. I enjoy the high def movies, but honestly my wife and I had much more fun with the Wii.

Super Mario Galaxy - must have.
Zack and Wiki - great single player puzzle adventure.
Raving Rabbids 1 - lots of multiplayer fun (once you've unlocked games in single player).
Zelda - seems good if you like this sort of thing and have lots of time to invest.

Where the heck do one buy a Wii?? Here in the Netherlands they were readeliy available for 1 week, then every1 found out and all gone. Since Oct-2007 nowhere to be found. Shops ont even take pre-orders anymore.

The PS3, Xbox360 are numerous available. In which country can i walk into a shop and buy a Wii?

I saw a sign in the window of my local smalltown blockbuster saying "Wiis in stock now" and they only had one, bought it then an there for my son's birthday and have had it in storage for a month!

TombRaider anniversary is possibly the best tombraider I've ever played.

@Eikon & Yo, thanks for the info.

@Enigmatic, we just got a 42" 1080 tv too (our last telly gave in....) - and are looking forwarded to Wii - ing on it.

As well as personal recommendations, you can always go to Gamespot and view all Wii games and then click the top of the chart to order by rating. It's a pretty good guide.

Or look at http://www.metacritic.com

thx grey and beaker, we were looking at gamespots vids of wii games last night.

Smash Brothers Brawl is a must have, excellent game.

SSBB is the best game I have ever played on the Wii. I have an Xbox 360 and I already feel like I want to trade it in for a Wii. :/

...But I won't. I will look for some money to buy a Wii.

This thread is totally relevant to me as of today:

Perhaps nintendo gets their ass up and releases SSBB before june in europe ... its a joke that a game with nothing real to translate takes that long to get here.
Especially as Mario Kart for Wii will be released in 14 days here.

Only 3 weeks till we get our Wii, nice post grey regarding claiming costs back....

yeah, if making games is your business, anything game related is R&D so claim it back! (well write it off against tax and get back approx 20% and also claim back the VAT if you are VAT registered (you can register for VAT even if your turnover is under £60,000ish)

i love my wii. ssbb is a awesome game but i thought it was a little easy. i had the original and jumped up to this one. the graphics are pretty good to. as for zelda twilight princess, it was in my opinionn the best zelda out there, although i haven't played ocrina of time yet. metroid prime is the best fps for the wii imo.

Hmm, I take back what I said about about gamespot. It's greats for researching PS2 and Gamecube games but the Wii games list includes loads of old Nintendo games that you can download. Well I'm only semi-interested in those and you can't filter them out. Of games that I'm interested in that have score over 7.5, there's only about 10! Either they've given everything else a bad review or they haven't reviewed it yet...

I've heard of organ donors, blood donors and even bone marrow donors, but that's a new one.

Wii jokes never fail to make me smile. :)

I prefer IGN over any other for game ratings.

Plash - metacritic think they are ok as well:

IGN here as well
But as a mather of fact many games on Wii are trash.
They seem nice by just looking at them but either they are deadly shallow or the control works really bad (EA is succeeding in this sector especially) ie not worth the massiv costs Wii games have given the fact they are strictly non-hd (which is a bad joke, a wii game costs as much as a highest price AAA PC game at release, just that it only cost 1/5 to 1/10 in development)

There are quite a few old games that bring much more fun, especially some of the SNES and N64 classics.

@Gfk, LMAO, the truth was she did not want her Wii anymore so gladly is giving it to us (;-)

@Dreamora, not everyone agrees with your sentiment, the Wii sonic v's mario olympics game has some friends kids doing a lot more excercise & fun than they would get with the traditional consoles.

Young children can get involved with console gaming in a way that improves their hand eye coordination and their motor skills in a way that was not possible on the older consoles.

Theres a Darts one thats just been released, I'm not sure that if I ever played it I would forget to keep a hold of the Wii remote when chucking the dart! :)

For me, Wii gaming makes gaming that little more interesting in respect that sometimes you have to get up off your arse to play or wave your arms about like a loon... The first time I played Wii sports, I was knackered! :D

Almost died of a heart attack playing Sonic Mario Olympics the other day.

There is nothing wrong with "deadly shallow" games (particularly on the wii) as long as they are fun, well crafted, and balanced. I agree there could be more of these tho.

mario party 8 & mario kart wii are the only two i own. I use my blockbuster game pass to play the rest atm.

I will probably buy the wii fit though.

The xbox 360 and ps3 are like going on a straight forward 1000mile trip in the flashiest, most expensive and fastest car with you mates.

The wii on the other hand is like going in a half decent, nippy little motor, en route through corn fields, going offroad, through streams, meeting drunk nuns and all your family and friends squashed in the car with you on this trip.

Apparently 50% of the world disagrees with you, or at least agree but enjoy those types of rides....

I read that comment as a positive thing. It might not be a gleaming high-spec piece of kit, but it sure is a fun ride.

(enjoying wii fit - and I didn't think I would)

Godfather Black Hand Edition....

RRR2 is better than RRR1 I think... great game for anyone. Big brain academy is fun also, (don't know how old the child is) and of course mario kart when it comes out.

It's a positive comment, i'd much rather get from a-b in the daftest, craziest, sweat inducing way and not in the coolest but same old boring way.

me too, used to have a 200SX, now have a 1.8D fiesta. The way the price of fuel is going I may have another 200SX... with an LPG conversion. A CG125 beckons.

Back on topic... the Wii sports golfs had some mileage, the other games we currently have is House of dead, pirates of caribbean and sonic.

Baroque, hardcore Rogue-like dungeon crawler.
