Probably know the answer here,but am i right in thinking.
Static charge is Electricaly charged particles hit non Electricaly charged particles which causes a static charge.
Im not a scientist.

A static charge is when you have an excess of electrons on a surface. If you've rubbed off some electrons while walking across a carpet, and for whatever reason they don't flow back into the carpet, then when you touch a doorknob or some other conductor,some of the electrons move from the area with more charge, your finger, to the area with less charge, the doorknob, to create equilibrium.
This is also what causes lightning. The clouds are negatively charged, and the ground is positively charged, so some of the electrons jump from the cloud to the ground, as soon as there are enough of them to overcome the air's resistance (air is an insulator), to equalize the charges.
So when you say "electrically charged particles" and "non electrically charged particles" what you really mean is matter which has too many electrons and matter which has too few electrons. Or less electrons than the charged surface at least.
and remember dont buy ram and gfx cards from ebay if the pic was taken with them lying on a carpet :))
